A rare overtly heterosexual role (complete with nude scenes) for Sir Derek Jacobi. Six years later, he entered into a relationship with actor and producer Richard Clifford, which endures to this day.
Although filmed in 1973, this movie received no British release until 1975, and then it had only a handful of bookings and the few reviews it received were unenthusiastic. It ended the brief movie-directing career of author Andrew Sinclair.
Longleat House, where much of the filming took place, is the country seat of the Marquis of Bath, who co-wrote the script under the name Alexander Thynne.
Fiona Lewis said years later that still she has no idea what this film is about. She just accepted the role because of the great cast.
