Even though relatively tame for modern standards, the movie was banned in several countries at the time of its release.
The movie opens with a quote by Therese D'Avila (aka St. Teresa of Ávilain) in French: "Anxiouse de me perdre en toi, je disire mourir...", which roughly translates as "Anxiouse to lose myself in you, I want to die." The movie closes with the note: "ce film est dédié a ma mere" ("this movie is dedicated to my mother").
Italian censorship visa # 66039 delivered on 14 February 1975.
