No, this is not the ETV four basic food groups Mulligan's Stew program, with the five kids who were hippy-like angry because you weren't eating a good nutritional diet! This was the story of a couple (Laurence Pressman and Elinor Donahue) with three kids of their own who end up taking in a sibling's four kids when their parents are killed.

I think Suzanne Crough (Partridge Family) was an adopted daughter, and in looking here, I would all but swear that Johnny Whitaker appeared, possibly in the pilot, as the couple's actual son, but it appears he was replaced with Christopher Ciampi? I might be mistaken, but one color pic I did manage to find, that is Whitaker.

In all likelihood, Whitaker did the pilot, then was replaced.

KC Martel, best known for Amityville Horror '79, also appeared, again as their biological son.

For some odd reason, the other son stood out to me. Maybe I was about the same age as him? I'm actually a year older than Martel.

There was also an adopted Asian daughter the late couple had taken in, so now Pressman got to be a father to this child as well.

He knocks on the bathroom door one morning.

"Somebody in here!" "Well, . . . when will somebody be out of there?" Another episode involved the pacifist adopted son, Mark, having to do some judo moves on some bullies, requiring him to remove his socks and shoes.

Another time, he was sleeping on a cot and it collapsed. The entire family runs in and now all the adopted kids break down and cry, missing their parents.

Short-lived, yes, obviously too soon on the heels of the Brady Bunch.

I don't know if events would have taken place between Crough and Whitaker, he being from Family Affair.

I think about this show from time to time and would love to see it, but looking it up on youtube, all I get is that healthy eating educational program.
