The film was originally released to theaters in 1976 under the title "Obsessed". It did so poorly at the box office that the producers re-cut the ending and re-released it in 1977 as "Anna Obsessed".
Shot in ten days.
Lesllie Bovee, C.J. Laing, and Sharon Mitchell all auditioned for roles in this film. Robert Kerman was originally considered for the role of David while Gloria Leonard was initially considered to play Maggie. In addition, Bovee, who was up for the role of Anna, ultimately dropped out of the movie because she thought the picture's combination of sex and violence was "irresponsible."
John Leslie suggested Constance Money for the role of Anna. Since Money had quit acting and had moved to Alaska to run a lodge, the producers had to contact Money via satellite to ask her about playing Anna.
Two weeks was spent on rehearsals prior to production.
