BJ's Kenworth can still be seen at truck shows around the country.
To make a more compelling product for syndication, all episodes of BJ and the Bear and its spinoff The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo (changed to Lobo) were packaged as a bundle titled "The B.J./Lobo Show".
"The Bear" was named after Paul William "Bear" Bryant, who was head coach of the University of Alabama's football team from 1958 until his death in 1982.
The final season saw a change as BJ was teamed with seven female truckers, who all became regulars or semi-regulars.
This show as well as the spinoff Sheriff Lobo were in fact popular shows. This series lasted three seasons, which is the same was legendary shows like Star Trek and Gilligan's Island, and Lobo lasted two seasons. During a time when syndication provided more money than creating new episodes, these were a lot of episodes.
