The late, great, Patrick Swayze was taken from us far too soon, but left behind a legacy of phenomenal films, performances, and characters to hold near and dear. Before pivoting into a full-time acting career, Swayze was trained in ballet, ice skating, martial arts, and football. Pairing this with his dazzling good looks and acting prowess allowed him to thrive in a variety of film genres, playing fast-dancing heartthrobs and action hunks in equal measure. He had his professional breakthrough as a dancer with the Disney Theatrical Group before taking on the replacement role of Danny Zuko in a Broadway production of "Grease." This put him on the radar of Hollywood, and he made his film debut as Ace in the 1979 film "Skatetown, U.S.A."
But when the 1980s came calling, Swayze exploded in popularity and became a household name. While he certainly hit his peak when I was just a child,...

Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is the golden girl of The Bold and the Beautiful. Since 1987, the heroine/vixen has been a vital part of the soap opera. While the role of Brooke has become synonymous with Lang, a few other actors have stepped into the role.

Lang comes from a showbiz family, and it’s no surprise she decided to carry on the family’s legacy by pursuing an acting career. Her first big break came in the 1979 film Skatetown U.S.A. After several minor roles in TV shows, Lang landed the role that would make her famous.

If there’s any reason why Skatetown USA couldn’t be brought back it’s because of the loss of Patrick Swayze, though there’s always a chance that some reference could be made to Swayze. The next hurdle would be figuring out if anyone even remembers this movie, and if it could be made socially relevant again. When it comes to really thinking about it, one has to realize that rollerskating is still alive, but it’s nowhere near as popular as it used to be since at one time roller rinks were filled with people. Now they’re considered something retro and are usually

In expanding to the deeper parts of its DC universe, Warner Bros is launching Suicide Squad spinoff Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn this weekend, repping the comic book label’s continued march into R-rated fare post Joker and Watchmen. It is projected for a worldwide start between $110 million-$125 million, a take that is just under DC’s $158.6M global opening of Shazam last April.
Birds of Prey follows DC femme heroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya who team with once-upon-a-time bad girl Harley Quinn to save a young child from an evil crime lord. Despite Suicide Squad being an ensemble movie, many would argue that it was Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn who carried that film and made it the commercial success it was. Abroad, the DC villains movie had Will Smith working in its favor. It will be interesting to see in...

Blaxploitation made its move on the horror market with Aip’s Blacula (1972); so successful was the foray that the money wheels started turning towards a follow up. And while Aip was busy cooking up a sequel to their surprise hit, an outsider saw an opening in the window of the American Dream and leapt right through. Frank Saletri may have been a lawyer by trade, but his heart belonged to horror and he gave his all to write and produce Blackenstein (1973) – a movie somewhat better than its godawful reputation, restored for posterity on Blu-ray by the fine folks at Severin Films. Come for the monster; stay to hear Saletri’s story.

Everybody has to start somewhere in the movie industry. Whether it’s running to fetch coffees for the cast of an instantly forgettable rom-com or taking a bit role that is guaranteed to embarrass your parents when they insist on watching “your big break,” most burgeoning actors have to endure a little humiliation before they make it big.
Still, it’s hard to suggest that any of the actors mentioned in this list would go back and change anything about their debut, especially considering that they’ve all made millions of dollars and became household names. But…maybe they’d do a better job of destroying all the copies of the film after they became famous.

Dirty Dancing was one of the biggest indie hits of the 1980s. But it came very close to not happening at all...
Dirty Dancing, I fully accept, isn't the kind of film you necessarily load up a site like Den Of Geek to read about. I can't sit here and tell you that it's ever been a movie that's been particularly special to me, although I know people who could happily watch it on loop.
See related World War Z 2: David Fincher linked with directing World War Z 2 nearly hit by Jurassic World 2
I've never met anyone who could say that about its sequel, Havana Nights, however.
That said, since writing about the troubles that befell the production of The Addams Family, I've been hunting for other generally off-radar stories of just how many problems a seemingly trouble-free film had behind the scenes. And...

Katherine Kelly Lang came by her acting career naturally. Now a first-time Daytime Emmy nominee as Brooke Logan -- her role since CBS' weekday serial "The Bold and the Beautiful" premiered in 1987 -- she has an actress mother, Judith Lang ("Count Yorga, Vampire").
And her grandfather shot some of Hollywood's most classic movies: Charles Lang was an Oscar-winning cinematographer whose credits included "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," the original "Sabrina," "Some Like it Hot," "The Magnificent Seven" and "Charade."
"He was an amazing man," the soap star tells Zap2it. "He had a great life ... I mean, 18 Academy Award nominations? He was the best of the best at that time, but I think I appreciated him more when I was older and probably not at a younger age. I grew up around that business, so it was natural for me."

Contrary to popular belief, the soundtracks to movie trailers don't come from the film. Stephen Kelly learns the trade tricks from the composers whose job it is to make you care
They're the unsung heroes of Hollywood, those whose job it is to stop your heart, steal your breath and leave you gasping for more – and the chances are, you've barely given their work a second thought. For this is the world of trailer music: an industry few people know exists, producing scores heard every day by millions.
"People just assume that the music in the trailer is from the film," says the veteran TV and film composer John Beal, talking from his La home. "That was the case a long time ago, although the music was taken from other films instead. Back when I started, only the occasional trailer was actually scored. The process has changed a lot since then.

American comedian Vic Dunlop has died following complications from diabetes.
The funnyman passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Glendale, California. He was 62.
Dunlop began his career in entertainment in the 1960s and landed a regular spot on Richard Pryor's TV variety show in 1977.
He went on to guest star on hit '80s show Harper Valley P.T.A., and also made appearances in films like The Devil and Max Devlin, Skatetown U.S.A. and Martians Go Home.
However, he was perhaps best known for cracking jokes on American game show Make Me Laugh.
