Originally developed as an eight-episode series, the maritime adventure “Lucy Lost” will instead hit the silver screen now that Paris-based powerhouse Xilam Animation has retooled the project as a feature. “Klaus” alum Olivier Clert has boarded as co-writer and director, joining BAFTA-winning screenwriter Helen Blakeman for a seaside family tale adapted from “War Horse” author Michael Morpurgo’s 2014 novel “Listen to the Moon.”
Xilam has shared this first-look with Variety ahead of the reformatted project’s pitch at Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux.
Set on the Isles of Scilly just off the Cornish coast, the film follows a young girl named Lucy raised by a clan of fishermen she knows not to be hers. However, she remembers little else about her past, and as a terrible war rages off in the distance, a chance encounter with the mysterious girl her own age soon helps Lucy put back the pieces of her...

The people who brew Michelob Ultra are counting on potential customers to crack open a documentary before they crack open a beer.
In Spring, the Anheuser-Busch InBev brand will launch “Lap of Legends,” a one-hour documentary special that spotlights the journey of Logan Sargeant, the popular American race-car driver. Sargeant will square off against avatars of popular Williams Racing racers from the past, and viewers will see him compete against rivals that use data and AI even as he drives in the physical realm. These “phantom racers” will be created using historical data of the drivers and their original cars.
The film will air via AMC, BBC America and Roku in April. Michelob Ultra is producing the content, and expects the film to be available in 28 countries.

Wes Cage, the son of actor Nicolas Cage, has unveiled a new solo song titled “The Wolf,” along with an accompanying music video.
The younger Cage is no stranger to music, having fronted the black metal band Eyes of Noctum. He also released a solo single titled “Tell Me Why (Matriarch of Misery)” back in 2014.
In the video for “The Wolf,” Wes gets to show off his own acting chops. As he explained in a press release, “I play the two contrasting incarnations of the same character. His lower self, in his case, is one of destitution, zero self-control, addiction, oblivion and failure, while his higher self is depicted through a being who is of power, elevation, awareness, organization and overall success. Both forces live in us all.”
He continued, “The music we’re doing is part of my essence and always needed to be released. Lyrically, ‘The Wolf’ touches...

In “The Idol,” the Weeknd plays Tedros, a Svengali character who does not possess a heart of gold or maybe even a personality. Early in his appearance, he sidles up to Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, the title character. He whispers something to her.
“Welcome to my little shithole.”
I don’t think he was talking about his acting chops, but one never knows.
If you’ve spent the past three weeks in a coma or on Mastodon, “The Idol” is this summer’s buzzy show with all the buzz being horrific. Much of the bile has concentrated on the creepiness both on and off the set and my friends, they ain’t kidding. By the time Abel Tesfaye appears, our heroine, a Britney stand-in, has survived the death of her mother, flagging ticket sales, a possible psychotic break, and — this is not what I went to journalism school for — a social media bukkake scandal.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards faced a series of roadblocks this year due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. “As we carefully navigate how best to deliver the fan first awards’ show we envisioned that our team has worked so hard to create, we’re pivoting away from a live event that still enables us to produce a memorable night full of exclusive sneak peaks, irreverent categories our audience has come to expect, and countless moments that will both surprise and delight as we honor the best of film and TV over the past year,” said Bruce Gillmer, president of music, music talent, programming and events at Paramount Global, and an...
