With Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake claiming many a wallet last year, you knew that the rumours of Capcom’s next remake of a Resident Evil game would eventually return to the one that started it all. That’s in addition to rumours for the next entry in the series, which multiple insiders have claimed is close to being announced.
As with all of these rumours, one has to take these with the usual hefty grain of salt.
The latest rumours for the next remake come from X user PRE_Alarabiya, which have been corroborated to some extent by industry insider DanielRPK on his Patreon, as well as YouTuber Biohazard Declassified. The rumours revolve around Capcom supposedly planning a remake of the original Resident Evil for 2026, which would coincide with franchise’s 30th anniversary. The track is a total banger, featuring sharp, heavy guitars and cutting vocals from Jasta and Souza. “Assimilation Agenda” marks Jasta’s first bit of new music since his 2019 project The Lost Chapters, Volume 2.
Nick Bellmore recorded, mixed and mastered the new song at Dexters Lab Recording in Milford, Connecticut. “Assimilation Agenda” also marks the first track released from Jasta’s as-yet-untitled new album, which will drop later this year.

Chris Redfield actor Charlie Kraslavsky is certainly putting his fame with Resident Evil fans to good use. Netflix has canceled “Resident Evil” after one season, TheWrap has confirmed. The eight-episode horror series, based on the game franchise of the same name, premiered on the streamer July 14.
The cancellation is unsurprising given the series’ mixed-to-negative critical and audience response: On Metacritic, “Resident Evil” holds a critics’ consensus score of 53 and an overwhelmingly negative user score of 1.5. The show holds a similar 55 critics’ score and 27 audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Upon its debut, “Resident Evil” held the No. 2 slot on Netflix’s Top 10, logging 72.67 million hours viewed. It dropped to No. 3 and No. 5 in the consecutive weeks, eventually exiting the list after its third week.

When Resident Evil 7 emerged from the shadows back in January of 2017, it broke new ground for Capcom’s time-honored horror franchise.
Not only was it the first mainline entry in the series to have a fully playable Vr mode, but it also marked Resident Evil‘s transition to a first-person perspective – two gameplay mechanics that amplified the atmosphere and unrelenting terror substantially. It’s small wonder, then, that RE7 (which was simply called Biohazard in Japan) has pushed more than six million copies worldwide, prompting talk of a Resident Evil 8 now entering development.
But in the meantime, players are still finding themselves getting stuck into the recent remake of Resident Evil 2, and as it turns out, the developer almost included a first-person mode in that game as well. Ultimately, though, the idea was scrapped, leaving it to the modding community to implement it themselves. And frankly, that’s probably for the best,...

Yuletide ghouls continue their march toward the big screen as the Joe R. Lansdale project Christmas With the Dead gears up to shoot—but now they’ll be doing so for a different director.
The Christmas team gave word that Brian James Fitzpatrick has been replaced at the helm by Terrill Lee Lankford due to creative differences. “We’re sorry it didn’t work out with Brian, as no one respects his talents and skills more than I do, but we’re happy to have Lee on board,” says Lansdale, executive producer on the film, based on his story.
Currently running Hieronymous Pictures for author Michael Connelly—for which he recently directed Conflict of Interest, a three-part tie-in to Connelly’s novel The Scarecrow—Lankford is currently scripting a feature adaptation of the popular TV series The Equalizer with Connelly. Fright fans, however, will know him better as T.L. Lankford,...
