Updated– Nordic Entertainment Group (Nent Group) is set to produce two major English-language films every year, kicking off with “Hilma,” a biopic of the revolutionary Swedish artist and feminist pioneer Hilma af Klint, starring Lena Olin (“Enemies”).
Lasse Hallström (‘The Cider House Rules”), one of Sweden’s most celebrated directors, is on board to write and direct the film.
“Hilma” will explore the enigmatic life of Klint, whose unconventional art remained largely unknown for decades. Klint navigated through a male-dominated artistic scene to eventually become one of the Western world’s first abstract artists.
Olin will play Klint in her later years, while Tora Hallström (‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale’), Olin and Lasse Hallström’s daughter, will be portraying the artist in her younger years.
“I’ve spent three years trying to understand the mystery of Hilma af Klint. This is a story about an unwavering search for the truth about humanity and the universe,...

As Judy Greer can attest, steamy sex scenes often arise from some seriously blush-worthy moments onset.
For example, the actress, 41, recently told People Now about an embarrassing experience she endured while rehearsing a sex scene with Woody Harrelson for their new film Wilson.
Before the rehearsal, Greer tried hyping herself up for the scene. “I’m not gonna be shy, I’m not gonna be ashamed,” she recalled telling herself. “I’m gonna really do my full performance here for this rehearsal so everyone knows what I’m gonna do.”

Mubi is showing the retrospective The Inner Demons of Ingmar Bergman from June 8 - August 28, 2017 in the United Kingdom.I've told this brief story of how I fell under the spell of cinema so many times I've become brazen to it. At eighteen years, in February 1993, I found Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers (dubbed) at the video store. As Woody Allen spoke of the Swede in hushed tones, I decided I should try a film. Ninety minutes later I sat stunned and spellbound, not sure what to do or think, but surely sure I must be onto something. Cinematic rapture still has a psychical aspect for me, the torque the sedentary body goes through while coping with the images before it. I can always tell how good a film is if my armpits smell after. The body doesn't lie. Ingmar Bergman is an easy crush—one writer I know...

"Swedish actor Erland Josephson, who collaborated with legendary film director Ingmar Bergman in more than 40 films and plays, has died," reports the AP. He was 88. "Josephson was born in Stockholm in 1923 and met Bergman while training as an amateur actor at 16. He appeared in several Bergman plays and films. He shot to international stardom with the role of Johan in Berman's film Scenes from a Marriage, in 1973. Josephson also starred in Andrey Tarkovskiy's films Nostalghia [1983] and The Sacrifice [1986]."
"It is Josephson's face which makes him so effective on film," reads his entry in the International Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers, "that bearlike aspect, his ability to look lost and forlorn, to convey a sense of suffering and bewilderment, in spite of his bluff exterior. Were one to repeat Kuleshov's famous experiment of the 1920s and to intercut the same shot of Josephson with images of joy, of sadness, of anger,...

Resident Evil: Retribution Videos Uploaded/Edited by AllstarMovies1, Filmed by GinoAndShants Some more footage of "Alice" dishing it out. You can just barely make out Milla in the centre with guns blazing. After the rehearsal mishap here is the full speed, full effects version complete with gunfire and explosions. I think this is a shot of Umbrella and Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillroy) taking some folks out. She is the in middle of the screen and pulls out a couple of shotguns at the end to fire. Watch for the late blast and that's her. Another day of shooting at the Toronto set of Resident Evil 5 - Retribution. In this video a bunch of Umbrella troopers get blown up. Some new footage of Umbrella soldiers mowing down people. Some Umbrella troopers drop in with guns blazing. The Lickers Are Back! Twitter - "I'm here people! Night shift once again on RE5. Yeah!

Los Angeles — After weeks of hearing prosecutors and witnesses cast the physician charged in Michael Jackson's death as a bad doctor, defense attorneys will shift the case to some of Dr. Conrad Murray's positive traits as the case nears its close.
Murray's defense team plans to call up to five character witnesses Wednesday who will likely speak about the Houston-based cardiologist's care and life-saving abilities. The attorneys did not name the witnesses, but they are expected to be Murray's patients.
The flurry of character witnesses come as defense attorneys wind down their case. They told a judge Tuesday that after the character witnesses, they will only call two experts to try to counter prosecution experts who said Murray acted recklessly by giving Jackson the anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid.
Defense attorneys could rest their case Thursday. They have already called nine witnesses, including...

On Thursday, Nov. 4, stars gathered at the offices of Creative Arts Agency (CAA) in the Century City neighborhood of Los Angeles, Calif., for "Acts of Love: Parenthood," a benefit evening of music and dramatic readings by Word Theatre, that raised $100,000 for Autism Speaks, a national non-profit autism advocacy organization.
The night also honored Jason Katims, executive producer of the NBC series "Parenthood," an ensemble family drama. It includes a storyline about Adam and Kristina Braverman (Peter Krause, Monica Potter), parents dealing with a son, Max (Max Burkholder), on the autism spectrum, inspired no doubt in part by Katims' own similar experience with his teenage son.
For one attendee, the evening was a lot more than just raising money for a worthy cause.
Calling in on Nov. 10 from the set of NBC's upcoming "Love Bites," where he's doing a guest role, Christopher Gorham, who also stars in the USA Network series "Covert Affairs,...

Los Angeles — Nicki Minaj is so popular right now she can shut down the scene anywhere she goes. On Saturday (September 11), her fans who happened to be downtown got a big surprise as Nick rehearsed her Vma pre-show performance, practicing "Your Love" and her brand-new single with will.i.am, "Check It Out."
Although Nicki's performance was outside, fans, members of her entourage, various MTV crewmembers and anyone sitting in one of the J.W. Marriott hotel's lounges could see Nick go to work.
"Get it! Get it!" veteran choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson — who MTV viewers will remember from Diddy's "Making the Band" — yelled after every Minaj "ow ow!" at the beginning of "Check It Out." "Get it, girl!

Just days after reviews began coming in from a stage adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s Through A Glass Darkly, it looks as though more stage adaptations of the legendary auteurs work may be on the horizon.
According to a feature penned by Variety, the Bergman estate is slowly becoming more open to stage adaptations, especially after the aforementioned Through A Glass Darkly. The Bergman Foundation has only sanctioned three films for stage adaptations; The Devil’s Eye, The Seventh Seal, and Through A Glass Darkly, within the English speaking world.
Scenes From A Marriage has been done in Russia, which while not being sanctioned for stage performance by the Bergman estate, has since become the most popular adaptation of Bergman’s, along with teleplays of Saraband, From The Life Of The Marionettes and After The Rehearsal. Also quite popular are Persona, Autumn Sonata and Winter Light, all of which haven...
