Andrew takes a nerdy dive into the pop culture real and fictional that's made its way into the world of Red Dwarf...
Creating culture within science-fiction can be tricky. It’s potentially alienating, with the audience required to understand allusions without a reference point. Then again, if you throw in too many contemporary references, the future starts to look dated pretty quickly. Red Dwarf has walked that fine line, building its own stars and entertainment but chucking in the familiar, just to keep the world grounded. We take a look at humanity’s future culture as seen through the eyes of Lister, Rimmer, Cat, Kryten and Holly.

Hey Game Ranters, another Thursday, another update to the Sony PlayStation Store, and another Game Rant Weekly Update.
There are no scheduled retail releases for either the PS3 or PSP this week – but fear not, PixelJunk Shooter has been released on the PlayStation Store. The title continues Q-Games’ streak of innovative and engaging releases (all of which are exclusive to the Psn). PixelJunk Shooter features two player local compatibility, a great soundtrack, charming story, great gameplay, numerous collectible items, and an attractive $9.99 price-tag. Without question, Shooter is Game Rant’s featured Sony release of the week.
Also available this week through the PlayStation Store is the demo for the upcoming EA novel-to-game release: Dante’s Inferno. PlayStation 3 users get a two week head start on this eagerly anticipated sneak peak at one of the most imaginative titles of 2010 – the demo will be available on Xbox December 24th.
