In a forest wilderness, Jack, a human boy living in the forest wilderness takes the girl he loves Lily, a princess, deep into the forest. Jack shows Lily the last two unicorns in existence. But, Lily ignores Jack who tells her not to touch the unicorns because it is forbidden and consequently, hideous trolls and goblins attack and they kill one of the unicorns and cut off it's horn and they capture the other unicorn and they kidnap Lily. As the forest wilderness is blanketed in snow and ice, Jack apologizes to the elf Gump for what has happened and Jack decides to set things right by rescuing Lily and retrieving the unicorn horn and Jack, Gump and their companions: the beautiful fairy Oona and the dwarves Brown Tom and Screwball set out into the troll and goblin's dark realm. In the dark realm, Lily is brought before the evil dark lord Darkness and Darkness wants Lily to be his bride and he intends to sacrifice the last unicorn which is the key in balancing the light and the dark in the universe and by sacrificing the last unicorn, the world will be in forever eternal darkness. Realizing what is at stake, Jack and his companions set out to save Lily and prevent the extinction of the unicorns and save the world from eternal darkness.

Ridley Scott, who is infamous for creating several versions of his movie, made a Director's Cut for Legend as well. Often only small parts got changed/replaced or extended but there are also several newly added plot sequences that several minutes long.
