This TV-movie is an OK mystery adapted from the novel by Howard Engel. Saul Rubinek is very well cast as private eye Benny Cooperman. Philip Marlowe he is not. He goes around wearing galoshes and a huge parka trying to decipher clues. This was a valiant attempt to adapt Benny Cooperman for the screen. The mystery is ok on par with most episodes of Murder She Wrote or some similar tv show. Rubinek does his thing and the supporting cast fill in well. Overall, a good way to pass a rainy evening. Look for author Howard Engel as a patron at the diner where Benny eats most of his meals.
