Originally, when the show debuted, there were no green and red "TAKE" cards. On November 4, 1987, just 6 months after its premiere, a green "TAKE" card, was added, followed by a lavender "TAKE" card, on February 2, 1988, though the color of the card would be changed to red, about a week later. After a contestant has made a match, or matched one of the take cards, by exact color, the contestant was given an option as to whether he/she took one of their opponent's prizes, by using a "TAKE" card or wait until another possible match, but cannot be used into another round.
