A New O.J. Movie Stars the Controversial Charlotte Kirk (But Definitely Not Owen Wilson)
Hey, Hollywood, anybody interested in a partially finished film about how O.J. Simpson might have been innocent? One that stars Charlotte Kirk — the English actress best known for her previous role in taking down moguls Kevin Tsujihara and Ron Meyer in a 2019 sex scandal — as Nicole Brown Simpson? If yes, this is your lucky day. According to British director Joshua Newton, about 30 minutes of The Juice (originally titled Nicole and O.J.) is in the can, mostly flashback scenes featuring Kirk and German-born actor Boris Kodjoe, currently on ABC’s Station 19, who plays the late NFL star turned acquitted murderer. Newton, who has been working on this “satirical thriller” since 2015, says the picture’s main plotline involves a real-life attorney named Douglas McCann who got sucked into various conspiracy theories during Simpson’s 1995 criminal trial.

In an upcoming video, we will be looking at the modern genre classic Vfw. I say genre because while my wife astutely pointed out that the drugged-up gang in Vfw kind of act like rage zombies and the movie has that great over the top gore and characters, its not really horror. Its gritty action like the movie that inspires it, Assault on Precinct 13. Genre encompasses multiple things like horror, exploitation, and any other type of movie that just has that feel to it. While today’s movie isn’t horror, though it does have situations that would be scary in real life, it is genre. It’s school-ploitation at its finest and has a pedigree both in front...

A number of great movies are leaving HBO Max at the end of March, so it’s time to prioritize these titles in your queue. Filmmaker James Gunn’s sequel/soft reboot “The Suicide Squad” will depart the streaming service on March 22 after first hitting HBO Max the same day it was released in theaters back in 2021. Similarly, “Space Jam: A New Legacy” was whisked away on March 1 after also getting a day-and-date release in 2021 (sorry/not sorry if you missed it).
You also only have until March 7 to stream “Just a Boy From Tupelo: Bringing Elvis to the Big Screen,” a short documentary on the making of the Oscar-nominated biopic “Elvis.”
Other noteworthy films leaving HBO Max this month include “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Contagion,” the extended version of “Dances with Wolves,” “Ghostbusters,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Love & Basketball” and “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

There’s nothing quite like when HBO is airing one of its trademark watercooler-worthy dramas weekly. Thankfully, we’ll get to it experience exactly that and more on HBO Max in March 2023.
The big ticket item on HBO Max this March is undoubtedly Succession Season 4 on March 26. Part prestige drama and part screwball comedy, Succession is about as fun a watch as they come. Season 4 of the series about egregious wealth will find the Roy siblings reeling after trying and failing to take down their father, Logan (Brian Cox).
HBO Max’s other major TV option this month is another weekly release from HBO. Matthew Rhys returns as the titular lawyer in Perry Mason Season 2 on March 6. Season 1 of this period piece reboot flexed the classic TV character’s detective skills. From the look of the trailer, it seems as though this is the year Perry makes his name in the court room.

Control developer Remedy Entertainment has recently announced that they’ve entered into an agreement with Rockstar Games that will allow them to remake 2001’s Max Payne and 2003’s Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Not much else is known about the project at this time, but Remedy intends to treat the remakes of the games that helped put them on the map as “typical Remedy Aaa productions.” For right now, though, those remakes are only in the “concept development stage.”
This is one of those announcements that once felt like it was never going to happen. Between the Max Payne games’ disappointing sales (or at least the Max Payne sequels’ disappointing sales), Rockstar’s ownership of the franchise rights, and the many failures of the 2008 Max Payne movie, the entire franchise has lingered in a strange space for quite some time. In what can be called movie geek comfort food, Battle: Los Angeles and Krull have become cult favorites over the years. Why? You can watch either movie while doing other things keeping an extra eye on the screen, have devout fans who can recite the dialogue verbatim and will defend both movies to the end. Guilty pleasures, yes, cult status, definitely.
Even HBO Max has it listed as such.
The 2011 sci-fi and 1982 fantasy films have come to HBO Max and are available to stream now.

Battle: Los Angeles, starring Aaron Eckhart, and from director Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans), is the exciting story of a squad of U.S. Marines who become the last line of defense against a global invasion. The return of fan-favorite shows, auteurs tackling new original series, new documentaries and more headline what’s new on HBO Max in April 2022.

In terms of new originals, “The Wire” and “The Deuce” creator David Simon is back with the new series “We Own This City” on April 25, which chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force. April is about to be a good month for returning HBO and HBO Max properties.
HBO Max’s list of releases for April 2022 features three hotly anticipated seasons of television. The Flight Attendant, which helped launch HBO Max as a viable spot for good dramedy in 2020, premieres its second season on April 21. That will be followed by another go-around for the sci-fi comedy Made for Love on April 28. Of course, the big ticket item this month is something that HBO Max inherited from its cable cousin. Barry season 3 will continue the story of hitman-turned-actor Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) on April 24.
The TV offerings run much deeper than just returning shows this month. April 7 sees the arrival of Tokyo Vice, a sprawling crime drama with some episodes directed by Michael Mann. The series stars Ansel Elgort as an American journalist embedding himself in Tokyo’s criminal underground in the late ’90s.

“Schitt’s Creek” star and Canadian screen icon Eugene Levy has signed with UTA.
The multi-Emmy-winning actor, producer and writer is best known for co-creating, starring in and executive producing the critically acclaimed CBC and Pop series “Schitt’s Creek” alongside his son and co-star, Daniel Levy.
The show — which reached global audiences via Netflix — picked up nine Emmy awards for its sixth season, earning the title for the most awarded comedy series in a single year and the most wins for a comedy series in its final season. With an ensemble cast including Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy, the series set the record for the first comedy or drama series to sweep all four acting categories, while Levy and his son were the first father-son pair ever to win Emmys in the same year.

Tommy “Tiny” Lister, the hulkish character actor whose pro-wrestler frame and menacing onscreen disposition highlighted the first two Friday films, Jackie Brown, The Fifth Element, and more than 200 other movies, died Thursday at the age of 62. His manager, Cindy Cowan, confirmed the actor’s death to Variety. A cause of death was not immediately known, but Cowan told Variety that he was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles apartment “after displaying symptoms of Covid-19 in recent days.” Cowan said Lister had been diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier this year.

Ever wondered about Wraith’s mysterious past? She’s one of the more interesting characters in Apex Legends, driven half crazy by her frequent trips within the Void, witnessing alternative histories and the incessant whisperings that follow her everywhere. Now, just after the Iron Crown Collection event ends, Respawn are serving up a full-on Voidwalker event within the game.
One of the most notable aspects of this will be the limited-time mode Armed and Dangerous. This is intended to be “in the same spirit of Wraith’s escape” and will limit the available weapons to sniper rifles and shotguns, with a sense of desperation caused by there being limited loot in general. These limited-time modes are a method of allowing Respawn to test new ways of playing the game, so who knows, if Armed and Dangerous proves popular, it may stick around for good?

Ever wondered what Mark L. Lester did after Commando? Well, he directed a terrible John Candy comedy called Armed and Dangerous. But then he made this bizarre mashup of Escape from New York, The Warriors and Robocop. It’s not as good as it sounds, but like Arnie’s finest 84 minutes, it’s a barrel of stupid fun – and it’s another Vestron “classic” wrenched from the archives and given a remaster we never expected.
In 1999, youth gang culture is so prevalent that all major conurbations have become “free fire zones”, meaning there is no police presence. They’re essentially lawless. The result is that all the youngsters in 1999 wear S&M leather and wield automatic weaponry. It’s not clear where they get all the ammo and bazookas.

John Wick looks a little worse for wear in the latest pair of stills to emerge for John Wick: Chapter 2, the blistering action sequel in the works from director Chad Stahelski.
Muscling his way back into the seedy underbelly of assassin guilds and dangerous killers-for-hire as Wick is Keanu Reeves, who, along with director Stahelski, offered up some interesting tidbits regarding the 2017 sequel to go along with those über-stylish pics.
Per Empire magazine, the first image places fresh-faced baddies Riccardo Scamarcio and Ruby Rose front and center in a shimmering, hall of mirrors-like setting. Armed and dangerous, we can readily assume that Scamarcio and Rose have their sights trained on Wick, and the surrounding environment ought to make for a nail-biting exchange of bullets and fisticuffs.
“The mirror room was Chad’s idea,” Reeves tells Empire. “It’s his homage to Bruce Lee at the end of Enter The Dragon.

Olive Films has released an extremely strange movie on Blu-ray. 1979’s Roller Boogie, directed by Class of 1984’s Mark Lester, and starring Linda Blair. If you’ve seen Class of 1984, Firestarter, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Commando, Armed and Dangerous, or any of Mark Lester’s classics, you will probably not recognize it in this film. Perhaps a little bit, but for the most part, this is the least Mark Lester-like film in his entire body of work. Also a little odd, is the fact that Dean Cundey was the director of photography.
If you’re familiar with Linda Blair’s post-Exorcist career, you’re probably aware that she turned into somewhat of a “bad girl.” Hopefully you’re not expecting much of that here, as Roller Boogie is rated PG. Granted, this PG was prior to the existence of the PG-13, but all that means is...

As a director, Ramis gave the world Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Groundhog Day, Multiplicity, Analyze This, Bedazzled, The Ice Harvest and several more. As a writer he gave us Animal House, Stripes, Meatballs, Armed and Dangerous, and Sctv. As an actor, outside of his own films, he stole scenes in Knocked Up, Orange County and As Good As It Gets. Basically, if you were alive and watching movies from the early '80s onward, Harold Ramis taught you a new master class in comedy and character every few years-- and those lessons become mainstays that you could watch over and over and over without losing a drop...

We’ve come to associate the raspy Ray Winstone to antagonist/villain-like roles of corruption, the underground and outlaws (favorites include Sexy Beast, The Proposition), but here, the actor from East End of London takes on an updated Jack Regan (detective character is based on a Brit show from the 70′s that I’ve never heard of). eOne Films has provided us with an exclusive clip for The Sweeney, featuring Winstone, Steven Mackintosh and Hayley Atwell in work place comradery. This will be out in theaters and on VOD in the Us tomorrow.

The perfect tribute? Armed and dangerous
Despite other prime roles being locked up for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire it damn near took all summer for Lionsgate to settle on one actor to play former Games' winning Tribute, Finnick. Armie Hammer and Matt Bomer were a couple of names thrown into the casting couch rumor mill, but in the end the studio found their man in Sam Claflin. You may recall having seen this hot young actor previously in Snow White and the Huntsman or Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides.

Let me make a statement that, like a penis penetrating a warm apple pie, is anything but subtle and also kind of surprising: "American Reunion" is the best installment of this raunchy franchise since the 1999 original.
Is this something of a backhanded compliment, considering the second film was a letdown, the third was unwatchable, and the subsequent direct-to-dvd flicks simply went unwatched? Sure. "Reunion," nonetheless, has some damn funny moments. Those moments are too often broken up with stretches of needless character development and stilted acting (try taking Tara Reid seriously at this point — I dare you), but when writer/directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg dial into what made the original such a hoot, "American Reunion" delivers the belly laugh-inducing goods. Here are five reasons to check it out this weekend.

It's time for more various oddball trailers from the far reaches of cinema obscurity. So, without any further ado, let's check out some "coming attractions"!
Dr. Alien (1989):
Ah, Empire Pictures. What's not to love about the infamous production company that gave us such 80's cult favorites as Ghoulies, Trancers, Re-Animator, TerrorVision and Psychos in Love? Well, here's one from Empire that I bet you probably missed; Dr. Alien. This goofy sci-fi teen comedy stars Billy Jacoby (Just One of the Guys, Parker Lewis Can't Lose) as Wesley, a nerdy student who becomes a sexual dynamo after being injected with a serum by his new smokin' hot teacher, Ms. Xenobia played by Judy Landers (Stewardess School, Armed and Dangerous), who just happens to be an alien. Sound ridiculous enough for ya yet? This nugget of pure late-80's video fun was directed by David DeCoteau, who got his start directing...
