Quotes

  • Cathy Dunlan : I can't take much more of this!

Frankie Dunlan : Much more of what?

Cathy Dunlan : This! Living like rats! I'm starving! The baby's starving!

Frankie Dunlan : So? I'm hungry too.

Cathy Dunlan : Then do something about it!

Frankie Dunlan : What do you want me to do?

Cathy Dunlan : Get a job!

Frankie Dunlan : There are no jobs!

Frankie Dunlan : Then look for one!

Frankie Dunlan : I am! It's not just us, it's the whole country! There's a recession on!

Cathy Dunlan : The whole country manages to eat! You're out on the streets every day like a zombie! You're not looking for a job! You're waiting for the world to end!

Frankie Dunlan : Hey, good! That should be any day now!

Cathy Dunlan : Go ahead and make jokes, but it's true! You don't care about us! You're off on another planet somewhere! It's not fair! It's just not fair!

  • Frankie Dunlan : I see it all so clearly now.

  • Cathy Dunlan : What have you been doing all day? Where have you been?

Frankie Dunlan : In the jungle...

  • Frankie Dunlan : [voice-over]  I go back there every night, without fail...

  • Welfare Worker : It doesn't look any better, Frankie. There's nothing here for you. Let's see... there are some computer jobs. There's an engineering apprenticeship opening...

Frankie Dunlan : I'll take it!

Welfare Worker : You can't. They want experience. You don't have the skill. That's just the problem, you don't have any skills.

Frankie Dunlan : Isn't there anything else? Check again.

Welfare Worker : [looking at some papers]  The waiting list for manual labor is still two weeks. Why don't you go back to school? Attend a community college? Learn a trait?

Frankie Dunlan : I've got a family to support. And all social programs have been cut. What do you expect me to do?

Welfare Worker : There is nothing I can do. You can keep coming here or can go to welfare, but I doubt they will do anything because they keep cutting back on handouts. I don't know what else to tell you.

Frankie Dunlan : Tell me some good news.

    Welfare Worker : It's 1:30pm.
