The film was one of Cannon's strongest performing movies at the box office in 1986. However it was a relative disappointment compared to other Norris films, earning a little less than $12 million. Cannon Films went into financial receivership soon afterwards.
This is Aaron Norris' (Chuck Norris' brother) last film as a stunt coordinator. He began his career as a director with his next film, Braddock: Missing in Action III (1988).
Filming took place in Mexico in June,1986.
John Rhys-Davies appeared in another action comedy adventure flick about treasure hunters from The Cannon Group, Inc., King Solomon's Mines (1985) (1985).
