Deadpool & Wolverine broke the internet with its first teaser, ushering in a new era of hype in the MCU, one that has not been seen since Avengers: Endgame. The first feature-length mutant project in the MCU, the film has a lot riding on it and also has a lot of speculation about what it is going to be.
A still from the trailer of Deadpool and Wolverine
One of the main attractions of the film is that it will introduce mutants in a major capacity in the MCU. While X-Men heavy hitters Quicksilver and Wanda Maximoff made their appearances way back in Avengers: Age of Ultron, they were referred to as ‘enhanced’ and not mutants. A new theory has emerged that Wade, through his shenanigans will retcon the origins of the Maximoff twins and make them full-fledged mutants in the MCU as well.

Longtime colleagues and college friends Gabriel Govela (“Dark Rain”), Irma Deschamps (“Champs”) and Juan Carlos Montes have reunited to launch TresTresTres Films, a young, fresh independent production house based out of Mexico City.
The trio are currently participating in the Sanfic Industria Morbido Lab for feature genre projects with Govela’s hardcore horror project “Zarzal.” It’s one of six projects pitching to prospective investors, co-producers, sales agents and festival and market representatives with a chance to score budgetary backing and production support from Grupo Morbido founder and CEO Pablo Guisa.
In “Zarzal,” three childhood friends – Damián, Rocío and Elia – camp out for the night in the desert. During the night, Damien steps away from the camp to go to relieve himself, but in the darkness of the night is attacked and bitten by an unknown animal. His injury is severe enough that the trio decide to head to the nearest town,...

Since his creation by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the mid-60s, Quicksilver has been a fairly important part of the Marvel Universe. The mutant speedster started as a member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, then became one of the earliest members of the Avengers. Over the decades, he’s married into the Inhumans, joined various X-teams, been a mentor to the Avengers Academy, and had his parentage retconned several times over.
He’s never been the most popular character in the Marvel Universe, but due to some legal complications, he became the focal point between two rival movie studios. It’s those complications that make his appearance in the fifth episode of WandaVision such a huge deal.

“I know an aerospace engineer who’d be up for this challenge.”
That single sentence spoken by Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau in WandaVision episode 5 has sparked a world of speculation for MCU fans. This doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would just be casually dropped into the dialogue unless it wasn’t going to have some kind of meaning for the Marvel Cinematic universe sown the road.
So who might this mysterious “aerospace engineer” be? We have some theories…
Reed Richards
“What I need is a 10,000 pound fallout shelter comprised of lead for photons, cadmium for neutrons, tantalum for seismic blasts…on wheels” Monica says.
In other words, she’s looking for something that is heavily radiation shielded and stress tested. The kind of material and vehicle that could, for example, withstand a barrage of cosmic rays in space. Monica is trying...

WandaVision episode 5 threw viewers, Vision, and even Wanda herself for a loop, when her long-dead twin brother Pietro Maximoff dropped into their now-80s-set Westview pad for a touching reunion, opening up a can of Marvel Cinematic Universe worms that have now spilled just about everywhere.
Pietro, as played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the MCU, originally died in a hail of bullets protecting Hawkeye and an endangered child at the climax of Avengers: Age of Ultron – Marvel’s 2015 blockbuster team-up movie where we first properly met Wanda – and Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon both promised Pietro’s death was a permanent one that they planned to honor going forward.
Well, Marvel sorta kept that promise during episode 5 of its Scarlet Witch and Vision spinoff series, managing to bring Pietro back from the dead – at least in the sitcom reality of WandaVision – by recasting the...

One of the burning questions surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s X-Men reboot is how the franchise will tackle the idea of the mutants themselves. After all, with the characters not expected to arrive until the tail-end of Phase Five at the very earliest, by that point the shared universe will have existed for at least fifteen years without them being mentioned once.
The word ‘enhanced’ was often bandied about, particularly in relation to Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver, but that was entirely down to the fact that Marvel Studios weren’t legally allowed to call them mutants. Now that Disney have swallowed up even more of the competition, though, they can do whatever they want with the X-Men, and the latest report indicates that a spot of retconning could be on the cards.

In the most unexpected casting news we’ve heard for a while, it was revealed yesterday that Jamie Foxx would be playing Electro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Spider-Man 3. This instantly opens up a whole host of questions, especially if the actor is directly reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which it seems is the case.
Not only does it lend weight to the theory that WandaVision‘s introduction of the multiverse will affect the franchise’s entire slate of Phase Four projects, but it could also be the first step towards a live-action Spider-Verse movie, the seeds of which were technically planted when J.K. Simmons showed up as J. Jonah Jameson in Far From Home after playing the newspaper magnate in Sam Raimi’s original trilogy.

Originally destined to be a tentpole theatrical release in May, Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of the much loved Eoin Colfer books instead premieres as a Disney+ exclusive. It’s a shame in a way, since Branagh’s movie is colorful, kinetic, and highly cinematic with several rollicking set pieces and some Harry Potter-level world building.
On the other hand, the streaming release does at least save fans of the books feeling cheated out of the price of a cinema ticket and a bucket of popcorn as well as a morally ambiguous and frequently ruthless main character. As many predicted, the least interesting thing about Artemis Fowl is Artemis himself.
A 12-year-old genius and criminal mastermind, Fowl Jr. played by newcomer Ferdia Shaw, is the son of wealthy Irish businessman Artemis Fowl Sr. (Colin Farrell). The elder Fowl has been accused of stealing various priceless items from museums including the Rosetta...

Things didn’t exactly get off to a flying start with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. When the initial trailer was released, fans were not happy at all with how Sega’s lead mascot looked. Especially his ‘human-like’ teeth it seemed. Personally, I wasn’t that bothered but the filmmakers were it seems, as Sonic got a quick makeover in time for its release and everyone was happy. But with all that going on, is the movie actually any good?
Fans of the games will definitely be pleased. Right from the opening scenes we see where Sonic grew up and we see him run. Most importantly, both of these things feel like they have been ripped straight out of the video game.

A report has surfaced that indicates Evan Peters has a role to play in Disney+’s McU series, WandaVision. The beloved American Horror Story actor previously appeared in Fox’s X-Men films Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix as Peter Maximoff aka Quicksilver, and was arguably one of the best things about the later entries in Fox’s mutant franchise.
An exclusive from Murphy’s Multiverse, which has become a fairly reliable source of behind the scenes industry chatter, reveals that Peters signed up for Marvel’s WandaVision late in 2019 and has since completed filming his mysterious role. Right now, the casting of Peters remains officially unconfirmed by both Marvel Studios and Disney, and the report doesn’t indicate whether the actor will star as Quicksilver.

Marvel fans have been wondering whether Scarlet Witch’s twin brother Quicksilver would appear in her very first solo vehicle WandaVision, and now word has arrived that he’s indeed involved. The only thing is, it’s not the Quicksilver we were expecting. Insider Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse is reporting that X-Men star Evan Peters is secretly part of the cast of the upcoming Disney Plus TV series.
The scooper notes that reliable sources have informed him Peters signed up late last year and filmed his part shortly after. The studio’s managed to keep it a secret until now, but word has finally gotten out.
Peters, of course, played Peter Maximoff in Fox’s X-universe, starting in 2014’s Days of Future Past and then again in 2016’s Apocalypse and 2019’s Dark Phoenix. This news will likely cause fans some confusion as Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the McU’s own resident Quicksilver,...

So with the big three day holiday weekend coming up, is there anything at the multiplex aimed at the kiddies (most of the country will still be in the “deep freeze” after all)? As you might’ve guessed, the big Oscar winner Parasite is really not for the wee ones (subject matter and those quick changing subtitles). Dolittle is probably still around but may be on its last legs (perhaps down to a couple of screenings a day). That one’s based on a series of classic children’s books, but that’s “so twentieth century”. The studios know that, aside from comic book superheroes, the youngsters still love video games (hey last year saw a second Angry Birds flick and Detective Pikachu). Well, the star of this long (nearly 30 years) running (truly galloping) game franchise does have legs. Now he’s getting the big studio live-action/CGI hybrid treatment.

Is there anyone better at playing a cartoon villain than Jim Carrey? Maybe that’s a strange question considering his recent absence from the mainstream. After all, the last time he conjured animated laughs and maniacal quirks was two decades ago, when he wore green skin and fur and wrapped himself in a Santa suit. It’s been a while. But from the moment he shows up in Sonic the Hedgehog, it doesn’t take long to recognize that Carrey has returned from hibernation. He’s having so much fun that you hardly notice the bags under his eyes.
It’s easy to forget that playing a caricature like Dr. Robotnik—the technologically savvy mad engineer and primary antagonist of this otherwise dull movie—is in Carrey’s wheelhouse. WandaVision is by far the most intriguing show on the upcoming Disney Plus slate. It explores Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff’s reality-warping powers, apparently showing her creating an idealized 1950s reality in which she has a family with Paul Bettany’s Vision, who died in the finale of Avengers: Infinity War. Bettany has called the series “super avant-garde and weird,” with Kevin Feige saying it’ll see Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch in the McU.

The story comes via scoopster Daniel Rpk, who uncovered an audition video showing child actor Nick Fisher auditioning for the role of a twin named “Tim.” We’ve known for a while that Wanda may have children in the series, with an early casting breakdown revealing that the show was looking for actors to play twin boys “Timmy” and “Adam.” These two will most likely be Wanda and Vision’s children, who end up being Wiccan and Speed. Truthfully, it made the ballooning cast of Avengers: Infinity War look small in comparison.
Whether it was fan favorite characters who we’ve been anxious to see again in the present – like Korg and Miek – or just those who were making one last McU appearance with the aid of time travel – like Loki, who manages to escape his fate in an alternate timeline – there were a ton of people to look out for in the film and watching each and every cameo director Anthony and Joe Russo threw in was a real delight.

Well, director Simon Kinberg showed up at WonderCon today to show off some new footage from the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix film. There was about ten to fifteen minutes of footage screened and for the most part… I liked what I saw! This might end up being the best X-Men movie since First Class.
Before I dive into it…
First Clip:
The first sequence that was screened featured the X-Men flying off into space in the Blackbird to help save a team of Nasa astronauts who are in trouble as their shuttle is spinning out of control as a black fiery floating mass is getting bigger and becoming unstable. They think that this is a solar flare, but what they come across is obviously not that.
The X-Men who race off into space on this mission include Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Cyclops...

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is finally set to arrive this summer, after several delays, and though we’ve come to expect a greater focus on Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey, for obvious reasons, there’ll still be plenty to keep fans of the likes of Professor X, Mystique, Quicksilver et al happy as well.
Speaking of which, while we didn’t see too much of him in the first trailer, the official X-Men Movies Twitter account has now teased the return of Michael Fassbender as Magneto. Seen below is a few quick seconds of the iconic character trying on his helmet, perhaps in preparation for a battle of some kind.

If you thought that the McU had a lack of compelling villains before, what if we told you that the overarching big bad of the entire saga wasn’t the unusually intriguing Thanos, but a literal stone? That’s what’s being posited by this latest fan theory, which draws on evidence from The Avengers right through to Avengers: Infinity War to argue that all this time, the Mind Stone has been the true source of evil from which everything else stems.
Reddit user Zaneman777 makes the case that whenever Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have had a major enemy to take on, the Mind Stone was always somehow involved. First of all, it’s observed that Thanos was in possession of the relic before the events of The Avengers, and that it may have been during this period that the stone corrupted the Mad Titan and made him the genocidal despot we know today.

Since set photos leaked online from filming, we’ve known to expect a batch of new costumes for the titular mutant team in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The end of Apocalypse saw the young group of X-Men, led by Mystique, suited up in fan-pleasing distinctive and colorful outfits that called back to their classic comic books. The implication was that they would be wearing these costumes next time we saw them, but clearly, director Simon Kinberg had other ideas and decided to change up their look once again.
Yesterday’s first trailer gave us a pretty good glimpse at the new uniforms the team will wear in the movie. In one clip, Professor X and his X-Men, consisting of Mystique, Storm, Quicksilver, Cyclops, Beast and Nightcrawler, confront the unstable Jean Grey who’s allied herself with Magneto. Here, the group are in matching black outfits with a large yellow X across the chest.

The news of Disney’s acquisition of Fox has fired up the imaginations of Marvel fans everywhere. As well as inspiring many a theory on when and how Kevin Feige and his team could integrate the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties into the McU, the development has also encouraged a few artistically minded viewers to offer their creative contributions, including this new animation which offers a heart-warming suggestion of how the upcoming Avengers 4 could conclude the fight against Thanos.
With the rousing Avengers theme song playing in the background, the clip sees the Mad Titan cross paths once more with the heroic cast of Infinity War, all of whom seem to have made a full recovery after the genocidal dusting which concluded their last movie. But while Thanos has faced most of these characters previously and triumphed, the odds of winning Round 2 start to look a lot slimmer as the camera continues to pan,...

Fox’s X-Men universe is currently in an even messier state than usual, with the planned New Mutants and Dark Phoenix movies both facing major production difficulties at the moment. Nonetheless, it’s hard to deny that the franchise has done a pretty admirable job of fleshing out its own well-established, if rather muddled, mutant world that continues to drop successful and enthusiastically received works on a semi-regular basis, be it last year’s Logan or this year’s Deadpool 2.
With that in mind, many are wondering how Marvel plans to integrate these characters into their own cinematic universe in the wake of the Fox-Disney merger. While the studio could start from scratch with a straightforward reboot of the X-Men saga, you could also argue that finding a way of transferring both the characters and their built-in backstories from one universe to the other would allow for a smoother transition,...

Fox might be about to merge with Disney (or maybe Comcast), but the X-Men movie universe is currently plowing ahead as it’s always planned to, with many spinoffs from the mainstream franchise in the works. The list includes the long-suffering Gambit with Channing Tatum, Tim Miller’s Kitty Pryde and James Franco as James “Multiple Man” Maddox. But could they be joined by a standalone adventure for Quicksilver?
That remains to be seen, but star Evan Peters sure hopes so. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor, who’s been part of the series since 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, said it would take him all of “one second” to agree to feature in his own spinoff as the speedy Peter Maximoff.

The X-Men franchise is about to go cosmic with the live-action rendition of Dark Phoenix, Chris Claremont’s comic book arc in which Jean Grey comes face-to-face with the Phoenix Force.
Such a wildly ambitious story plan means Fox’s flagship superhero series is about to break new ground, and sure enough, while speaking with Entertainment Tonight, director Simon Kinberg recently went on record to assure fans that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is much more loyal to its source material than X-Men 3. But beyond that, it sounds like we should also expect a much darker film than we’re used to seeing from the franchise.
Speaking to Collider in a recent interview, Evan Peters, who plays Quicksilver, explained that the next installment in the series will be a lot darker than the last one. Which, for those of you keeping track, was Apocalypse.

Evan Peters' Quicksilver will be racing back into action in director Simon Kinberg's upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I've really enjoyed this film version of the character and the way that Peters has played him. He had the best scenes in both Days of Future Past and Apocalypse.
During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Peters talks about Quicksilver and how he's changed for Dark Phoenix. Things are going to be a little different for the character this next time around. He explains that Quicksilver has done a little growing up.
"He's definitely a little older and more mature, a little more subdued, sort of trying to make a, not a name but trying to do right by the X-Men and be a good guy and use his powers for good, so I think he's on that path at the moment."
It makes sense that the character would mature over time.

One of the best additions to the X-Men movie universe in recent years – maybe second only to Deadpool – is Evan Peters’ Quicksilver. First appearing in 2014’s Days of Future Past, the cocky speedster won over fans with that incredible “Time in a Bottle” slow-mo sequence which gave us the best depiction of super-speed we’ve seen in the genre. He was obviously a shoe-in to come back in 2016’s Apocalypse, then, and next year Peters will rack up a trilogy of appearances when he shows up in Dark Phoenix.
Seeing as a weird quirk of the modern X-Men movies is that they jump forward ten years though, how will Quicksilver have changed by the time we catch up with him in Simon Kinberg’s upcoming blockbuster, which takes places in the 1990s? Peters was asked this at a press junket for his new movie, American Animals, to which he revealed...

Recently, some buzz has accumulated online about the possible return of Quicksilver in Avengers 4. As we know, the movie is set to celebrate the first ten years of the McU, so it would be nice if the forgotten hero was brought back after being unceremoniously killed off in 2015’s Age of Ultron.
The reason why this has even become a thing in the first place is because it’s been reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was spotted on the set of the movie. However, without any photographic evidence to go on, we shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet. That said, fan theorists have already come up with some compelling points as to how Quickie could fit into the narrative.
And let’s hope this rumor is true, as Quicksilver really does deserve another crack at the whip. Sure, we have Evan Peters’ version over in Fox’s X-Men universe but,...

Recently, a new Avengers 4 rumor claimed that a long-dead hero would be returning to the McU for the first time in years. Namely, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver, who was shockingly killed off after only one movie back in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. But can we actually trust this rumor?
Given that the details of Quicksilver’s return are sketchy at best, we’re not so sure, but it’s certainly possible that Pietro Maximoff could make a comeback in the Infinity War sequel. YouTuber Ryan Walsh Aka Webhead has even put forward an interesting theory as to why it might actually make a lot of sense.

Laurence Fishburne was in the news today because rumor has it that the next installment of The Matrix is going to centralize the character of Morpheus. Unfortunately there aren’t many more details than that but I have no problem with this. Morpheus is 100 times cooler than Neo and giving him a little more screen time would be fine by me. Speaking of Laurence Fishburne, I wanted to bring up one of my favorite all time Fishburne movie roles. Fox’s treatment of Marvel properties is unacceptable. There, I’ve established how I feel. Now, let’s run down why it’s so exciting that one day we may see them work with Marvel in a capacity similar to Sony. To put it bluntly, it feels like Fox is just in it for the money. I’m aware of how capitalism works, but the difference between someone who cares about what they are doing and someone rifling through your pockets is glaringly obvious. Many of you will disagree, but let’s take a peek back in time. We’ll begin with X-Men.
In 2000, a time before Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film, X-Men was a triumph. Not many people cared about the fact that Hugh Jackman looked nothing like the comic book version of Wolverine. It was just cool to see a man with claws tearing through stuff. But,...

The world of Angry Birds has never demanded much intellectual stimulation. Rovio’s smartphone game is merely a brainless time-waster, where you shoot cartoon birds out of a slingshot in hopes of defeating egg-hungry piggies. Fling your flightless heroes, and destroy everything in your path. There’s no explanation needed. So when news of The Angry Birds Movie came to be, concerns of plot thickness immediately were raised. Could writer Jon Vitti craft a story weighty enough to sling wholesome family entertainment for an hour-and-a-half? Well, it’s a yes and no answer – with a much more pronounced “No.”
On a remote tropical island, there lives a community of flightless birds who are as happy as can be – well, everyone expect for Red (Jason Sudeikis). And the X-Men movies are important to me. I grew up loving superhero comic books and I grew up loving movies. These two fascinations were not mutually exclusive; but now, more and more, they feel diametrically opposed.

Warner Bros has announced nine new comic book movies over the next couple of years, but what could they be?
With the news dropping recently that Warner Brothers have set plans for nine DC comics-inspired movies, it looks like we might finally see some further exploration of DC’s wide-reaching universe.

On the other hand, Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios have pushed forward with such confidence that they are now making standalone movies for lesser-known heroes like Ant-Man and the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
