Sex & Nudity

  • No nudity at all. Sex is implied, but never shown, and never talked about. In one scene, Nikander returns to Ilona just after she has taken a shower and is wearing a bathrobe. He grabs her, she throws her arms around him, and they kiss. In another scene, the two are sitting on the beach, fully clothed. when suddenly he pushes her onto the ground and kisses her. That is as passionate as the movie gets.
  • It is also strongly implied that another man has been either having an affair with Ilona or at least trying to get her to sleep with him.

Violence & Gore

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There is a lot of smoking in this film. It is never stated that Ilona is a chain-smoker, but she is seldom without a cigarette in this film, and she seems to be very tense much of the time.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man has a heart attack and dies near the beginning of the film.
  • The scene in which one of the characters is beaten up.
  • Although Nikander and Ilona have several confrontations during the film, and although she apparently walks out on him several times, she always makes sure to kiss him just before she leaves, even after a date that "doesn't work out".

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Nikander is brutally beaten up in one scene.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Ilona treats her relationship with Nikander as it were something to be tense and worried about, though we realize by the end that she loves him. Nikander never knows for sure whether she'll show up at an appointed place, or how she feels about him, until the end of the film. He is clearly in love with her.
