The opening sequence mirrors the scene halfway in Scarface when Tony Montana takes revenge for his attempted assassination by threatening to kill Frank Lopez. Frank begs for Tony not to kill him, similar to James Tien begging Yuen Wah not to kill him in this film. Both gunmen say they won't kill them and have someone else shoot them down. At the end of both scenes, the victim's henchman is left standing shocked and unemployed. The killer in both films then offers the "leftover" man a job. The scene is almost identical to the scene in Scarface and is an obvious reference.
