MILAN -- "Son of Rambow", the Garth Jennings coming-of-age comedy about two kids from opposing backgrounds who film a sequel to the action movie "Rambo", will screen in the Piazza Grande at the 60th annual Locarno International Film Festival, organizers said Thursday.
"Rambow", a Franco-British co-production from Paramount Vantage, and two of the 10 films that make up "Progetto Alba" -- hourlong documentaries about the ancient Albanian communities in southern Italy -- were both 11th-hour additions to Locarno's program, which was announced Wednesday in Bern, Switzerland.
"This rounds out the program nicely with two very serious films in the documentaries from 'Progestto Alba' and a wonderful comedy in 'Son of Rambow, ' " Locarno's second-year artistic director Frederic Maire said in an interview.
Thursday's announcements, from Milan, also added names to the list of personalities expected to appear on Locarno's red carpet, including "Rambow" helmer Jennings, "Hairspray" director Adam Shankman, "The Bourne Ultimatum" helmer Paul Greengrass and Italian poet Dario Fo, who won the Nobel Prize for literature 10 years ago.

Sylvester Stallone's private jet and hotel room were searched by Australian customs officials yesterday, three days after they seized banned substances from his entourage's luggage. The Hollywood tough guy arrived in Australia on Friday to promote his latest movie Rocky Balboa, when his and his entourage's baggage was seized, and detained for several hours. The Rambo star had earlier claimed the incident "was a misunderstanding." Sylvester Stallone has promised fans of his Rambo franchise they can expect another installment of the all-action series - even though he's nearly 60. Sharon Stone is heading to a Los Angeles court to fight for lost cash she claims she's owed after producers of a Basic Instinct sequel scrapped the project. Stone claims she's owed more than $100 million by Rambo producers Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar after they promised her a $14 million salary to make the follow-up and a healthy cut of the profits. The actress claims that not only did she lose money, but she passed on other acting jobs, including a co-starring role opposite Adam Sandler in comedy Mr Deeds. The defendants claim the film fell flat when Stone made outrageous demands for perks and then rejected Benjamin Bratt as her co-star. The two sides will head to court next month.

Sylvester Stallone has been dragged into a new investigation by the FBI, after allegations his phone was tapped by disgraced private investigator Anthony Pellicano. The movie tough guy has been questioned by federal officials in America over a now resolved 2002 legal spat with his former business manager Kenneth Starr. Stallone became involved in the alleged wiretapping case after one of Pellicano's staff revealed the shamed sleuth had asked him to find derogatory information on both the Rambo star and fellow Planet Hollywood investor Arnold Schwarzenegger. It has since been acknowledged by Starr's attorney Bert Fields that he often hired Pellicano's services, although Fields has denied he had any knowledge of Pellicano's alleged wiretapping. According to published reports, Stallone himself also hired the services of Pellicano, who is at the center of a grand jury investigation after agents raided his offices last year and found material indicating the private investigator had conducted extensive illegal wiretaps while working on cases for high-profile lawyers. Pellicano is already serving a 33-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to weapons charges.

Rambo star Sylvester Stallone's new movie Shade is set to have a theatrical release - after much difficulty in generating any interest in it. The con-man caper has been slow to find a distributor, but Rko chief Ted Hartley says buzz around the movie is finally building. He says, "All of the foreign territories except two have now been sold, and the movie is going to turn the corner to profitability. We have four serious bids for domestic distribution. I think we're in good shape, and I think it's an important turn for Stallone." Website Aintitcoolnews.Com's correspondents have seen the flick and report, "Age has made Stallone's face fascinating - those basset hound eyes buried even further in that Shar-Pei landslide of skin, but with a rumpled dignity."...
