Producer Joe D'Amato originally hired Luigi Cozzi as the movie's director who at first was involved in pre-production, but ultimately left after realizing that he wasn't allowed to make any script changes. D'Amato replaced him with first-time director Fabrizio Laurenti, while Cozzi went on to direct Paganini Horror (1988).
Fabrizio Laurenti originally wanted to cast Bette Davis as the Lady in Black. Incidentally, Davis is said to have dabbled in witchcraft in her spare time.
David Hasselhoff and Catherine Hickland were married in real life at the time.
This is Linda Blair's only portrayal as a mother in waiting in a feature film. Also interesting to note is that the father is never once mentioned or referred to. Blair had, however, also played a pregnant woman in her earlier television guest appearance in Murder Takes the Bus (1985).
