According to the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre, this TV series has generated more income for Florida's Palm Beach County (US $48 million) than any other movie or TV filmed production.
A character called Mitch Slade, a Ferrari-driving private detective, was added as a in-joke for the series, because one of the series co-executive producers was Tom Selleck.
Michael Chiklis said in his 2013 interview with the American Archive of Television that he credited Burt Reynolds for for rescuing his acting career by hiring him for a guest appearance in B.L. Stryker after Chiklis was "blackballed" for his portraying of John Belushi in the 1989 film Wired.
