Not as good as the original but still fun...
whammy6668 January 2005
Thank God I got the Killer Nerd/Bride Of Killer Nerd DVD, I really go it to see the sequel. The sequel is better quality, but that takes away all the fun. The original is worse and has bad special effects and in this one it was like they knew what they were doing. It is kind of a boring film, but still fun. Any thing is fun with Harold Kunkle, still played by the great Toby Radloff. His girlfriend Thelma Krumple is played by Heidi Lohr and does a good job, she also played Harold's "girlfriend" in part 1. This movie has some decent gore, a Pscho like shower scene, and more. Make sure you take this one home today along with the original!

The saga continues
mermatt28 November 1998
This is the sequel to KILLER NERD -- the saga of Harold Kunkle continues. It starts out with a real Hitchcock-Twilight Zone style laugh and ends the same way. The film is the story of two nerds who find love -- a Thoreau and an Emily Dickinson of the 90s, both suicidal and both out for revenge. There is a little bit of Bobbitizing and cannibalism along the way just for fun. The film is quite witty and rather well done for a low-budget independent.

A film every bit as bad as its predecessor
Leofwine_draca2 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
BRIDE OF KILLER NERD is the inevitable follow-up to KILLER NERD, the title referencing THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Sadly, even by Troma standards these two films aren't any good at all. They're shot on video black comedies in which geeky characters are celebrated and turn the tables on the bullies who oppress them in various silly ways.

Imagine THE TOXIC AVENGER without the main character becoming a toxic superhero and you'll see how these films are. The production values are rock bottom, the humour is forced and unfunny, and there really is no reason to watch a bunch of characters mumbling their way through meaningless dialogue - unless you're a glutton for punishment.

Not as "good" as the first, but amusing
mdholman23 July 2002
It's great to see Kunkel make a comeback. Even though this one can't live up to the standards of the first "Killer Nerd" (but what could live up to those lofty standards?), it is still amusing and a pleasant way to pass ninety minutes.

Surprisingly entertaining sequel.
Captain_Couth2 September 2004
Bride of the Killer Nerd (1992) is a good movie. I was very surprised by how well it was directed and acted. The story follows Harold Kunkle who's literally haunted by ghosts from his past. Poor Harold, he's still plagued by problems that he thought were finished and taken care of in Killer Nerd. All he does is work, sleep and eat. Until one day he finds his soul mate, a female nerd from a local high school. Just when their lives were about to hit rock bottom they found each other. Will this relationship last? That would be telling. Expect some mondo psycho-madness and other strange stuff in this little watched film.

Toby Radloff is perfect as the Killer Nerd. Being "America's Biggest Nerd" works in his favor as he reprises his role as Harold Kunkle from Killer Nerd. Despite the very low production values, it's a very entertaining film and it's worth seeking out the Troma disc because it has both films on it and other great stuff from Troma....of course!

Recommended.

Nerdism, revenge, jocks
smellthecult-com-17 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Here's the thing: Harold is a nerd, and in the first movie (Killer Nerd, which I am yet to see) he killed violently all of the people who had persecuted and ridiculed him and generally made his life a misery, including his mother. Now he's all alone and contemplating suicide. As luck would have it though, one day at church he meets Thelma, a fellow nerd, and they team up. They get invited to a party and are soundly humiliated and, guess what? Go on, have a go. That's right, they go on a killing spree to exact revenge on all those who tormented them.

Shocking acting, woeful dialogue, terrible direction, this is good fun. Though not in The Toxic Avenger league, this is still a sound Troma release.

worse then the first
movieman_kev10 June 2004
Harold Kunkle finds a girlfriend in the second installment of the Killer Nerd saga. Less entertaining then even the dubious value of the first film. Does pick up a tad towards the ending, but not nearly enough. The punchline being the girl nerd is more blood-thirsty then Harold I guess. Also, (and this is nether here, nor there) but I thought it strange that a black guy is invited to the party, when everyone obviously hates him and ridicules him. *shrugs*

My Grade: D-

Troma DVD Extras: Intro by Lloyd Kaufman featuring gratuitous nudity; Commentary with Toby Radloff and director Wayne Alan Harold; Interview with Toby; Toby and Lloyd Kaufman in Akron, ohio; Purple Pam music video; 2 PSA's; Trailers for "Citizen Toxie", "Tales from the Crapper" and "Suicide"; Shameless plugs for Lloyd's book and website (comes in a double-feature with "Killer Nerd")

Eye Candy: Rachel (Mimsel Dendak) gets topless in a shower scene

Stupid but kinda sweet
quridley31 May 2017
This is as cheap as you can get but its also well-executed for a 2 cent movie about a killer nerd. The actress who plays the female nerd is very endearing and game, plus I thought it was well edited and photographed throughout (the makers produced MTV skits before this, starring the nerd). The plot is flimsy and full of lame clichés, but there's enough weirdness and bad 90s fashion to entertain a modern viewer who is VERY desperate. There's some casual racism in the treatment of the film's only black character, so be warned. He's depicted as a lying, lusty clown who is constantly berated by just about every white character (why is he around them?). Doesn't help that he's named "Tom". So this is a typical find for lovers of bad shot-on-video movies.

This is a good movie!

I was expecting another stupid unfunny horror movie, but this was actually pretty good. Well written and well acted (by the nerd). Just listening to the Killer Nerd talk was enough to make me laugh. That guy should be in more movies!

The Killer Nerd finds a girlfriend and they get invited to a party. Of course the only reason they were invited was so they can be humiliated in front of everyone. They get their revenge with a gory throat slashing, a Psycho shower scene, and the Bride of the Nerd castrates some guy with her teeth. Extremely low budget, but good anyway.

Even better than the original
Rrrobert16 February 2020
Worthy sequel. The story is tighter and overall the film is pacier and more entertaining than the original.

Again we have a host of amateurish acting performances but the cast members are generally charismatic and entertaining, so the 'bad' acting is actually a lot of fun.

Toby Radloff is again fantastic. He's the 'slick' nerd throughout which is great. Heidi Lohr is fab in the title role too. She played a different role in the original but here she is even funnier. I also loved the mean girls she was at school with.

Cool music.

Harold takes a bride!
redkamp-28 December 1998
Bride Of Killer Nerd is to Killer Nerd as Bride Of Frankenstein is to Frankenstein: a sequel that improves on the original. Harold meets Thelma, the ultimate female nerd, and they fall in love. After being thoroughly humiliated, they embark on a killing rampage even more over-the-top than Harold's spree in the first film. As an added treat, there is a party sequence with a really rocking band plus a nicely done homage to Alfred Hitchcock. A dandy of a low budget black comedy/horror flick. Filmed in the Cleveland area with a wonderful abundance of bad taste. I loved it!

Worthy sequel
Woodyanders12 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Terminally dorky oddball Harold Kunkle (the singular Toby Radloff in stellar spazzoid form) finds a soul mate in the form of sweet nerdette Thelma (a winningly gawky portrayal by Heidi Lohr). This daffy duo of dweebs join forces to fight back against those cruel folks who mercilessly persecute them for being different. Writers/directors Mark Steven Bosko and Wayne Alan Harold bring a much darker and more mean-spirited tone to this follow-up to the enjoyable original: The violence committed by the geeky leads manages to be quite gruesome and nasty, with an inspired parody of the famous "Psycho" shower scene and an especially brutal castration rating as the definite harsh highlights. Once again, Radloff's distinctly idiosyncratic presence keeps the picture afloat. Moreover, the romance between our two socially maladjusted misfits possesses a certain innocent off-kilter charm while their savage killing spree is very startling and ferocious, with Thelma's grotesque white clown make-up making for a genuinely creepy sight to behold. The rough cinematography by Alan Stevens boasts a few nifty stylistic flourishes. Sean Carlin's funky bumping score does the right-on groovy trick. Good twisted fun.

Say! Your!! Vows!!!...
azathothpwiggins8 July 2021
The awe-inspiring sequel, BRIDE OF KILLER NERD takes the emphasis off of Harold Kunkle (Toby Radloff), and places it on his new girlfriend, Sally (Heidi Lohr).

Equally backward, Sally is every bit as socially excluded as Harold. Her ultimate transformation into a murderous maniac is a wonder to behold!

BRIDE is a tad darker than the original, making it seem more interesting / bleak than it was probably meant to be.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT: Actual actors, acting in an amazing production!

WHAT TO EXPECT INSTEAD: Tree-like "characters" moving and making sounds. Plus, loads of gushy, gory fun!...
