Not much is known about this one yet, and we can't find much online or anything about any festivals premieres or otherwise. It's set to open at Drafthouse Cinemas in March next month. From director Mickey Keating (Offseason) & producer Joe Swanberg comes Invader, a lean, mean, and shocking jolt of true crime horror. Invader follows a young woman who arrives in the Chicago suburbs and begins to suspect that something terrible has happened to her missing cousin, but soon realizes that her greatest fears don't even begin to scratch the surface. I missed the boat with Daymare: 1998 in its original release but I finally found myself playing it this last year. What started as a fan remake of the great Resident Evil 2 soon evolved into its own original creation and set out to deliver an old-school survival horror experience. Though made from a very small team, developers Invader Studios succeeded in some aspects but fell wildly short in others. So it’s interesting to see Invader go back to the drawing board and carve out a more unique identity with Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle.
Did they succeed in Round 2? The results may surprise you.
Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle follows H.A.D.E.S. operative Dahlia Reyes. Set before the first game’s events, Sandcastle follows her and her squad as they take part in “Operation Sandcastle,” which takes them into the depths of Area 51. An event only referenced in the first game, Sandcastle...

It's been a long time since there’s been anything new from Philip Cook, an industrious low budget filmmaker whose films Invader and Despiser are overlooked gems deserving to be rediscovered. He’s finally back behind the camera with a new web series called Malice that puts a very different spin on the idea of Alice going down the rabbit hole.
Synopsis:
Malice concerns the Turner family’s supernatural adventures in their late grandma’s home. It’s up to teens Alice and Abbey to solve mysteries and survive dangers emanating from the old home. And when people start disappearing, Alice--the sixteen year-old with an active imagination--must go down the “rabbit hole” and confront a shocking revelation.
This contemporary Gothic horror-fantasy web series starring Brittany Martz, Rebekkah Johnson, Mark Hyde, Leanna Chamish, and Matthew Gulbranson begins with bi-weekly episodes January 15th.
Philip Cook’s 1992 Invader is a witty pre-“X-Files...

We're going back a few years this week for Motion Picture Purgatory, all the way to 1985 and Don Dohler's Galaxy Invader. One review on Amazon says, "Galaxy Invader ought to come with complementary clothespins because this is one heaping pile of cinematic cow patty." Read on to see if Trembles agrees.
Synopsis:
An alien is hunted by a gang of drunken hillbillies who saw him crash-land his spaceship.
Written and directed by Don Dohler (with additional story concepts provided by Anne Frith and David Donoho), Galaxy Invader stars Richard Ruxton, Faye Tilles and George Stover.
“D’oh!” is for Dohler!
