Ott platforms have not just changed the rules of the entertainment market, they have given, literally, a second life to Bollywood stars who had faded away from the public eye for quite some time. Of late, a number of senior actors, who had virtually retired from the industry or had limited theatrical releases, are now being reinvented and getting a hugely positive response to their work, courtesy of streaming platforms.
Here’s a list of nine actors who are back in the reckoning in their second innings because of Ott:
Harman Baweja
The actor made his debut with the 2008 release “Love Story 2050”, directed by his father Harry Baweja, and charmed the audience with his dancing skills (and little else!), but he was dismissed by all as the poor man’s Hrithik Roshan.

Jatin Pandit, one half of the now-disbanded composer duo Jatin-Lalit, releases his first non-film single, "Dhadakte rehna" on Friday. The video of the song, incidentally, stars his son Raahul Jatin.
"My son Raahul Jatin heard the composition and loved it. The song started growing on us, that's when Raahul suggested that I should record this and release it as an independent single," says Jatin.
The romantic ballad is composed, sung and penned by Jatin Pandit. The music video, featuring Raahul with Jessica Lopez, is directed by Harper Gahunia and is shot in California, US.
"I was waiting for some people to join me in my studio, (so) I just picked my guitar and this hook line started flowing through me. I instantly recorded the tune and completely enjoyed creating it," Jatin adds.
"I'm glad that all aspects worked out in spite of the Covid situation, and now we are going to release it.

Combining them together makes it all the more delicious. Over the last 100 years of filmmaking, the world has been exposed to some of the most iconic Bollywood numbers that we cannot erase from our minds and consider them to be eternal classics. As part of our mini-feature, BollySpice presents to you 15 songs that have changed Bollywood forever. Enjoy!
1. ‘Aayega Aane Wala’ from Mahal (1949) – Though this song won’t be as well known amongst the younger generation, the song ‘Aayega Aane Wala’ from the chilling film Mahal, is important for one major reason. This song made India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar a nationwide superstar and she went on to sing for Bollywood films for another six decades.

The iconic superstar of film choreography Saroj Khan is not amused at being targeted by Farah Khan twice over, once during a promotional appearance on Comedy Nights With Kapil where comedian Kiku Sharda did his trademark takeoff on Saroj Khan. And now in the film Happy New Year Kiku returns to do broad takeoff on the famed choreographer. Sarojji is neither amused nor flattered by the comic imitation. Upset but unwilling to let her hurt show Sarojji takes a deep breath and says calmly, "I want all rational media-persons to ask a question on my behalf: what did Farah Khan by getting a comedian to mimic me on Kapil Sharma's show, and then in her film? Kyon mere peeche pade huey ho? Shame on Farah, Kiku Sharda and Kapil Sharma for this kind of behaviour. What has Kapil Sharma got to do with me? Why is he part of this?...

New Delhi, Nov 8: Actor-director Deepak Tijori has donned a villainous avatar for Devang Dholakia's "Tina & Lolo" which features Sunny Leone and Karishma Tanna as its "heroes".
The director was keen to have a strong evil character in the film.
"My girls are my heroes in my film, so when we were looking for a new suave villain I thought of Deepak Tijori. He fits the bill perfectly," Dholakia said in a statement.
Deepak, who acted in films like "Aashiqui", "Aaina", and "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar", is excited about the role. He has apparently lost weight to play a debonair villain.

Almost four decades ago, Raj Kapoor, one of the finest film-makers India has produced, took a rather brave decision of casting two newcomers in his ambitious project Bobby. Almost everyone in the film industry was caught by surprise. A similar situation arose when Karan Johar, one of the most successful stories of our times, decided to cast three rank newcomers in his ambitious outing Student Of The Year. Like Raj Kapoor, after having worked with the biggest of names in the business, Karan could've easily signed any top league star for his new film, but he didn't. At a time when the industry bigwigs often complain that there's a genuine dearth of newcomers, not many film-makers have the courage to stick their neck out by launching films with new faces. However, despite starring fresh faces, Karan has ensured that the look and feel of Student Of The Year is at...

There was a time in the Hindi film industry when idealism was highly valued. From Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa to V. Shantaram’s Do Aankhen Baarah Haath, from Mehboob Khan’s Mother India to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Satyakam, the protaganists were people who lived and died for their ideals. Their idealism was stubborn even though it gave them great personal pain.
Things started changing in the 70s when the hardships of stubborn idealism gave birth to personal frustration in the new generation – which found an outlet in the angry young man persona. At the same time, the hippy culture was bringing in a new wave of individualism. The youngsters of the era started turning rebels which was well captured by Raj Kapoor in Bobby, which had teenage lovers rejecting their parents authority and eloping. However the idealism was not totally lost, as the older generation held on to it. Film...

He’s Aamir Khan’s nephew. He’s also seriously good looking. Is there any way Imran Khan could not have grabbed the headlines when he made his debut with the hit film, Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na? But Imran actually started his career playing the young Aamir in films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Now, the teen heartthrob is all set to seduce his fans with his latest movie, Break Ke Baad. One word that describes you best?Omniscient. If a traffic constable hauls you up, what would you do?Put the music off and take off my sunglasses. <Img alt=Imran src="http://www.hindustantimes.com/images/HTEditImages/Images/imran-khan2.jpg" ...

There's little physical resemblance between fledgling actor Imran Khan and his uncle, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, but the young man has obviously inherited the same acting gene. Imran was a child actor in Aamir's films 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (1988) and 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar' (1992), and he made his film debut as an adult in 'Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na' (2008), which was produced by Aamir and became a box-office hit. His subsequent films 'Kidnap' (2008) and 'Luck' (2009), both with Sanjay Dutt, flopped. But he has some highly anticipated projects in the works: 'Delhi Belly,' an English-language comedy produced by Aamir, and 'I Hate Luv Storys,' with Sonam Kapoor. Sorry ladies, this doll is taken—he's engaged to his long-time sweetheart Avantika Malik.
