In Sunday’s The Walking Dead, two plots thickened to the consistency of cement! First, Eugene took one big step forward, two bigger steps back (then a whole sidestep!) with Stephanie, and Connie’s investigation into what happened to Tyler yielded not only some confounding intel but an altogether unexpected ally. Mystified? Keep reading, your head’s about to spin like a top!

Kenny Rogers, whose music went beyond the country music genre he is known for, died at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., Friday night, according to the New York Times. He was 81.
“The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25Pm at the age of 81,” his family said in a statement to Twitter. “Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”
Rogers was known for duets like his chart-topping pairing with Dolly Parton, “Islands in the Stream,” and crossover hits like “Coward of the County,” “Lucille,” “Lady,” and his signature song, “The Gambler.” But the Country Music Hall of Famer went through all genres in his musical journey, from playing upright bass in a jazz band, through subtle Vietnam War commentary with his cover of Mel Tillis’ song “Ruby” to psychedelic swing...

The Nintendo DS provided ample opportunity for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl to shine...
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl came as a very pleasant surprise when it released in Japan in 2006 and everywhere else in 2007 as the first titles in the RPG franchise to release on the Nintendo DS. More than a decade later, this pairing of console and concept works just wonderfully.
After years of squinting at non-backlit Game Boy and Game Boy Advance screens, playing Pokémon on the dual LCD screens of the DS feels like heaven. The characters and their critters are more visible and vibrant than ever, and the touch screen functionality of the bottom screen is an absolute godsend when it comes to rummaging in your bag for items or picking your next move in battle. Using WiFi rather than a Link Cable to connect with your friends also feels like a huge leap in playability.

Charly Bliss’s 2017 debut Guppy was the kind of alt-rock charmer that keeps revealing secrets and pleasures beyond its tough, shiny exterior. The songs mixed chugging Breeders riffs and vintage-Weezer poo-metal, a popular retro-rock formula they nailed with uniquely uncanny precision. But the big revelation was helium-voiced singer Eva Hendricks’ ability to expunge deep anxieties while still seeming sharp and in-control. “Ruby” was a Nirvana-strength ode to her shrink; “Glitter” was a radiant guitar-gusher about the emotionally crinkly subject of dating someone who weirded you out by reminding you of yourself.

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. The best things come to those who wait, and Big Ed Hurley (Everett McGill) has long been dreaming of the moment that opens Part 15 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival. "I've been a selfish bitch to you all these years," says his one-eyed wife Nadine (Wendy Robie), who's walked a long way—a Dr. Jacoby/Dr. Amp gold, shit-digging shovel slung over her shoulder—to the cash-only Gas Farm that Ed has run for most of his life. She states the obvious: Ed is in love with Rr Diner propietor Norma Jennings (Peggy Lipton), and she, Nadine, has always stood in his way. Those days are finally over. Ed is reluctant to think of this as anything beyond another of his spouse's manic episodes.

In this week’s Twin Peaks, we were given a journey through different emotions. Through happiness, love, sadness and despair, this was an episode to give any Twin Peaks fans major feels. It may also hint that next week we are finally getting what we want.
In this week’s episode, we get the nostalgia of a romance finally coming together. Evil Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) meets with the Woodsmen to take a trip to see Phillip Jeffries (David Bowie), and we also say goodbye to a much-loved character.
At the beginning of the episode, it is hard to not get emotional for Ed Hurley (Everett McGill) who is finally put in a position where he can be with Norma (Peggy Lipton). It is in this moment that we see him truly give up on the relationship, and Lynch directs the scene perfectly. We get to feel that heart-breaking feel of abandonment,...

Woody Allen’s back catalogue casts a long shadow across contemporary romantic comedy. His tropes and trademarks are as ingrained into the collective sense memory as mother’s perfume. At the first tremble of a clarinet, mutter about mortality or meander across a Manhattan neighbourhood, we inhale the nostalgia like Bisto kids. And arguably we’d never have met Harry and Sally, walked the Sidewalks of New York or dined alongside Friends with Money without his influence.
The Longest Week is peppered with Woody base notes. Over the course of seven days, Conrad (Jason Bateman) has been stripped of the safety net of his wealth and the cushion of his ego, moved in with his cynical best friend (Billy Crudup) and accidentally fallen in love with his girl (Olivia Wilde). His eventual dilemma – to be or not to be a better man – is as timeless as Annie Hall.

The first time I stumbled across The X-Files and saw David Duchovny turn around in his swivel chair as Special Agent Fox Mulder, all handsome with deadpan wit and alien conspiracies, I wanted to know what was going to happen to him.I also garnered instant admiration for Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who was the petite, cute, blonde heroine instead of the damsel in distress or dead airhead number two.
And who would not want a brother like Jensen Ackles’ Dean Winchester? His depth of singular devotion is usually reserved for children or lovers.
Conversely, there are characters you do not love to hate but only hate, or at least do not care for one way or another at first. Thoughtful writing, talented actors...

In the world of videogames bosses aren't the kind of authority figures that'll give you a last minute report to do, or delegate to you tasks they simply can't be bothered doing. No, these bosses would rather take that report, roll it up into a ball, set fire to it, and throw it at your face. The only delegation they're interested in is getting you to test the sharpness of their axe, or the effectiveness of a new spell.
The end level boss is almost as old as videogaming itself, and many genres have some form of superior foes awaiting you at the end of a level, area or mission. These bosses are often large, overpowered beasts that make the foes you've faced thus far seem tame in comparison,...

The "Veronica Mars" movie was released on Friday, in a limited number of theaters, via various digital and On Demand platforms, and through digital downloads that came as one of the Kickstarter rewards. (Though I understand there have been some glitches with that.) I already reviewed the film in advance, but there are certain things I didn't want to talk about until many of you had seen it. So spoilers coming up just as soon as I'm a Hooters barback... The best thing about the movie was how much it made me want to see another one — not just because I thought Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero and Kristen Bell did such a great job of making Veronica work as an adult character, but because the unusual circumstances of this movie's creation meant it had to be made in a very particular way. I respect the idea that Thomas wanted to...

Film director whose career took him from gritty television plays to Hollywood thrillers
People who talk wistfully of the "golden age of British television drama" are often accused of viewing the past through the rosy lens of nostalgia. But a clear-eyed examination of the era proves that such slots as the BBC's The Wednesday Play (1964-70) and Play for Today (1970-84) were unsurpassed as breeding grounds for talented directors such as John Mackenzie, who has died after a stroke aged 83. Like most of his contemporaries who gained their experience by working in television – Philip Saville, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Ken Loach, Mike Newell, Michael Apted and Mike Leigh – Mackenzie went on to make feature films, notably his superb London-based gangster picture, The Long Good Friday (1980).
The television background trained Mackenzie to work quickly on taut and realistic narratives, within a tight budget and on schedule. One of his first jobs was as...

Chicago – Willie Garson is one busy actor this week. When you portray Stanford Blatch, Carrie Bradshaw’s gay best friend, then the “Sex and the City 2” release will undoubtedly fill up the schedule, including his introduction of the film May 28-30th at the Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville, Illinois.
Garson has appeared on over 50 TV shows, several films and has portrayed famous presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald on three different occasions. But he is best known as the funny and breezy friend of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie in the TV and film incarnations of Sex and the City.

This Saturday night marks the premiere of Syfy's latest cryptozoological creature feature, Mothman. Earlier this week I somehow got invited to get up extra early (by my standards) to take part in a conference call Q&A with stars Jewel Staite and Connor Fox.
Perhaps it was lack of sleep that led to me realize shortly after the call began that I had no earthly clue what the heck to ask either of them. Could also have been due to having not seen the film and Syfy not having done much to promote it until the past couple days.
I'm guessing most of the other callers taking part also had some difficulty coming up with questions to ask considering someone actually asked them to compare Louisiana and California movie catering. Anyway, here's the transcript of the call for those interested in hearing more about Mothman as well as "Stargate", "Firefly...

Let the wailing begin, "Supernatural" fans.
Jared Padalecki, who plays the taller but no less charming Winchester brother on The CW's "Supernatural," is engaged to be married to his former co-star, Genevieve Cortese, according to E! Online.
You may have noticed some chemistry during their sex scenes on the show, when Sam got it on with the demon Ruby played by Cortese in the fourth season (the first incarnation of Ruby was played by "Melrose Place" star Katie Cassidy).
Genevieve has put her demonic days behind her and is now on the ABC show "FlashForward."
The couple has done a good job of dating under the radar, a rarity for Hollywood.
So that's both Winchester boys off the market. Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, recently got engaged to "One Tree Hill's" Dannel Harris.
Way to keep it in the network family boys.
Happy? Sad? About to create a voodoo doll of Genevieve?...

Desk of Christy MacLear, Executive Director, Philip Johnson Glass House Museum
Piles: Everyone gets them, and some of us admit it openly--and seek treatment. Christy MacLear, executive director of the Philip Johnson Glass House Museum in New Canaan, Connecticut, spent two years looking for an office desk that augments--rather than disguises--her piling ways. She describes her work style as "managing through piles." MacLear assigns each project its own stack of papers. "If I don't see them (they are in a cabinet) then the project might as well be in cold storage," she says. Many productivity experts agree that documents should stay more or less visible until you are finished using them. At that point, most papers can either be recycled or banished to closed filing cabinets.
Piles don't tend to be pretty. They eat up space on your desktop, sprawling out across every available surface like a ravenous suburb. And...
