He's made his name playing insufferable public school toffs. But is that the real Jack Whitehall?
Jack Whitehall sits outside a Putney cafe, looking slightly harassed. This is his third attempt at finding an interview venue. The first place he suggested we meet was closed, not unsurprisingly, given that it was a pub and it's 10.30 on a Wednesday morning. So he suggested another pub, also closed. Eventually, he leads me on a lengthy walk to discover somewhere that isn't a pub. Does he know this area? He frowns: yes, he grew up in Putney and still lives here. "My parents' house is just down there," he says, pointing across the road.
You could suggest that this is all very Jack Whitehall-ish. He has, after all, made a career out of playing clueless public schoolboys of varying degrees of ghastliness. Pj in Fresh Meat, the student sitcom by Jesse Armstrong...

Jedward's tour manager has insisted that the Irish twins are not gay. Darryn Lyons prompted speculation over John and Edward Grimes's sexuality when he questioned them in the Celebrity Big Brother house. The duo denied that they are homosexual, but said that they have not had girlfriends. "They are really shy. I'm sure they do fancy girls but don't like talking about sex as they're probably aware that their granny is watching," Liam McKenna told New magazine. Asked if he thought Lyons might be right in his assumption, McKenna said: "Darryn was just stirring s**t. They're not gay." He also added that he believes the 'Bad Behaviour' stars made a "conscious decision" to not have sex before they are married. "The (more)...

Jedward have revealed that they plan to encourage their fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates to do "silly things" while drunk. The Irish twins entered the famous house last night as the new series launched on Channel 5. While they don't drink, the pair said that they will serve alcohol to their co-stars including Kerry Katona, Amy Childs and Tara Reid. Jedward said: "We hear that there is a bar in the house as well. We don't drink but we'll be the bartenders and serve everyone, we can get them drunk and make them do silly things!" Asked if they thought they would annoy the other celebrities, the 'Bad Behaviour' duo insisted that they have "no idea why anyone would think that", saying: "I think they'll love our energy and enthusiasm." They added: "We might try to wind the others (more)...

Jedward have debuted at number one in the Irish singles chart this week with 'Bad Behaviour'. The track, lifted from their second album Victory, ends Pitbull's reign as 'Give Me Everything' slips into second place. 'Bad Behaviour' becomes the twin's third number one single in their native country. Example's 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' also continues to climb the chart as it rounds off the top three. The highest new entry comes from DJ Fresh's 'Louder', which charts in fourth position. Jason Derulo enters the top 10 at number eight, with current single 'Don't Wanna Go Home'. Notable climbs are made by David Guetta's 'Where Them Girls At, up nine to 14; Beyonce's 'Best Thing I Never Had', up 8 to 18; and Adele's 'Set Fire To The Rain, which (more)...

Jedward have provided a real treat for their fans on this grey and rainy Friday morning.
The Irish twins took to their Twitter page to post a picture of the artwork for their new single ‘Bad Behaviour.
On it the former X Factor contestants can be seen looking suave in black and grey suits and sporting their normal pointy quiff. We particularly love John’s (or is it Edward’s?) Posh Spice style pout!
The boys have recently finished recording their second album, which the track has been taken from.
The music video for the new release was shot on the 10th June and a select few fans got to appear in it, after the boys asked their followers to email in pictures of themselves to a casting agency. It has been reported that the music video will have a house party theme.

Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Cinequest Film Festival has merged film and technology for two decades. The event was an early adopter of digital capture and exhibition as well as distribution across all platforms from the big screen to DVD to TV to the Internet to handheld devices.
The tradition continues in the festival’s 21st edition with a program that includes 3-D programming and panels, including the world premiere of the stereo version of “Plan 9 from Outer Space,” two 3-D shorts programs and seminars on the art and science of stereo filmmaking.
Meanwhile, Cinequest is screening 173 films this year from 41 countries — 75 of which are U.S., North American or world premieres. Audiences are expected to near 100,000, with more than 700 artists slated to attend.
This evening’s opening-night film is “Passione,” John Turturro’s musical love poem to the city of Naples.

March seems to be the preferred month for festival programmers, and I’ll be damned if I know why. SXSW, Sf International Asian American Film Fest, Cleveland International Film Fest, Charleston Film Fest… all unspooling across movie screens within days of each other if not simultaneously. March was probably viewed as a quiet film month once upon a time, but clearly that’s no longer the case. And here’s one more to add to the list… The Cinequest Film Festival 21 will be celebrating the medium next month from March 1st to March 13th in San Jose, Ca. Eighty-five feature films will play alongside ninety-nine shorts and multiple forums and special events. Some of the films we’re looking forward to this year are listed below, but some of the highlights include John Turturro’s latest directorial effort Passione, the darkly comic Australian thriller Bad Behaviour, the inspirational true story Soul Surfer, and...

Encore was asked by Matt Riviera to provide its list of the Top 10 films released theatrically in Australia in 2010 and, even though our specialty as a publication is local productions, it was a pleasant surprise to look at our final list and see two Australian films (and one with a considerable amount of Aussie talent) that deserved a spot in it. It wasn’t a pat on the back for the local industry, but a genuine recognition of the power of their stories and the skill of its execution.
The public is slowly starting to recognise it too; the top 10 highest grossing Australian films of 2010 made $45m at the box office, a figure that has brought optimism to an industry in desperate need of reassurance from the audience it serves.

Although there are a few exceptions to the rule, Australian cinema is where it’s at right now. The filmmakers currently pouring out of this country seem to have their finger on the pulse, and are constantly churning out incredible work at a mad rapid pace. If you’re the sort of person who needs examples, I’ll graciously point you in the director of “Cactus”, “The Loved Ones”, and the grossly underrated “Lake Mungo”. Writer/director Jeremy Sims is tossing his hat into the cinematic ring with “Bad Behaviour”, a horror/exploitation flick that looks downright impressive. The teaser trailer — which arrives courtesy of Twitch — has been positioned below for your immediate enjoyment. But first, a snazzy synopsis: The weekend is about to kick off. The Horseman director Steven Kastrissios just sent me a heads up for this little indie bad boy, which is the first feature from director Joseph Sims -- who judging by this bloody treat is obviously a very different bloke to that other Aussie director/thespian Jeremy Sims.
Here's the kick:
The weekend is about to kick off. With the ocean calm, the weather warm and the sun setting over the hills, two psychopathic siblings - Emma and Peterson, pit stop on their road trip of bloodshed at the sleepy beach-side town of Cecil Bay.
Bad Behaviour will have you on the precipice of intrigue as you are thrown into: Emma and Peterson's encounter with their fierce predator and debt collector Voyte Parker, a cop confronting the people who murdered his son, and the day a man finds his wife is cheating on him. Bad Behaviour joins the intersecting storylines of murderers,...
