The wildly popular NBC series Friends was still four years into the future when one of its biggest stars began appearing in music videos for Jon Bon Jovi. In 1990, Matt LeBlanc was trying to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry when he was tapped to star in a video for Jon Bon Jovi’s first solo project, Blaze of Glory. He would go on to film a second one at the height of his Friends fame as well.

A new report indicates sources in the sports and media world are increasingly convinced the NBA is about to depart TNT.
So will there be a new version of “Roundball Rock,” or will NBC just dust off the John Tesh original starting in 2025? That decision could be on the minds of Comcast executives these days, as they attempt to win a package of NBA rights in the basketball league’s next national broadcasting deal. The company has lodged a $2.5 billion per year bid for a bundle that would include regular season and playoff games, but it has to worry about a challenge from Warner Bros. Discovery, which has been broadcasting NBA games for nearly 35 years. A new report from the Sports Business Journal reveals that NBC is currently in the lead NBA’s third parcel of games, and details how messy the fight between the two contenders just might get.

Months before she won the 2023 Best Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy for the first season of FX’s “The Bear,” it was reported that Ayo Edebiri would move up to lead for season two. According to our odds chart, she looks set to become the 12th woman to reap both supporting and lead Emmy bids (in that order) for a single role on a single series. If she takes the gold again, she will become the first to win both comedy actress awards in that order for one show.
Edebiri’s win in the supporting race at the strike-delayed 75th Emmys was preceded by victories in lead for season two at the 2024 Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards. Having just blocked Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) from achieving back-to-back supporting Emmy honors, she now faces the challenge of fending off two former lead champions: Jean Smart and Quinta Brunson.

“Slow Horses” star Gary Oldman is the frontrunner to win Best Drama Actor at the upcoming Emmys. Oldman earned his first and only Oscar six years ago for his portrayal of World War II-era British prime minister Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.” That win was sandwiched between two other lead bids for “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” (2012) and “Mank” (2021). His sole Emmy nomination to date came in 2001 for his guest appearance in the two-part seventh season finale of “Friends”; he lost to Derek Jacobi (“Frasier”).
On Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses,” which is based on a series of novels by Mick Herron, Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, a particularly uncouth MI5 officer saddled with the responsibility of supervising a group of service rejects. This constitutes his very first regular role on a continuing series and his first live action TV performance at all in over two decades.

Jan de Bont’s action thriller Speed is considered to be one of the best in the genre. Moreover, the chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves was the equivalent of a cherry on top. The romance is a slow burn as the characters keep the audience waiting for something to happen between the two but it isn’t until the very end that Annie and Jack share a passionate kiss.
Jan de Bont’s Speed (1994).
However, this didn’t mean that there wasn’t a spark between the two as they held on to their dear lives in the speeding bus. They do share a few moments of eye contact here and there and as per Sandra Bullock, this really helped the two to build a connection before their big kiss; something which she hilariously dubbed as “foreplay.”

The late Matthew Perry was a man of many talents venturing into several mediums of entertainment. While many people know him as Chandler Bing from Friends, he has also made some successful films over the years including Fools Rush In, The Whole Nine Yards, and 17 Again. The actor also made his theatre debut in 2003 with the play Sexual Perversity in Chicago.

He went on to become a playwright with his next venture, The End of Longing, where he plays an exaggerated version of himself named Jack. Jumping from a hit show like Friends to creating/starring in a Broadway show was a completely different experience. The actor stated that he was spoiled by the ‘royal’ treatment on TV shows and he got a reality check while making his play.

Bringing a couple whose chemistry clicks on the screen is not an easy task. A proper storyline, well-developed characters, an ideal location, and perfect timing are all necessary. Rachel and Joey’s relationship on Friends lacked all of these. Well, the NBC series always had wonderful backstories, and the couples we saw on the show—Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler, Phoebe and Mike, for example—all made sense. Still, it was impossible to swallow the pill of Rachel and Joey being together.
Throughout its ten seasons, Friends had a lot of romantic moments. But in terms of other couples, the back-and-forth dynamic between Joey and Rachel won out in terms of the ‘will-they or won’t-they relationship’. Having said that, while there were many memorable moments in Friends Season 5, one that sticks out as especially epic is the game of ‘this or that’.

There are some moments when we all want to get some comfort in our lives and seek nostalgia. That is when the TV shows and movies from our childhood come into play. But while some of them have aged well and are still just as funny and heartwarming, others will only bring disappointment.
This list may seem perfect for any 80's and 90's kid, but if you take a closer look, you'll realize that none of these shows are actually good by today's standards.
Baywatch (1989-2001)
To say that Baywatch was bad would not even be a controversial opinion or a hot take. Despite its longevity, the only thing the show could rely on was the good looks of its cast, which is why it was so overly sexualized. The creators must have hoped to hide the lousy production and all the plot holes behind a bunch of conveniently attractive people.

Twenty years ago, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) got off the plane. “Friends” concluded its 10-season run on Thursday, May 6, 2004, with “The Last One,” its two-part series finale that drew 52.5 million viewers and remains the fifth most-watched series finale in U.S. history.
A lot has happened in the 20 years since the Emmy-winning sitcom went off the air. “Joey” came and went. “Friends” remains in syndication — and its enduring popularity means it’ll outlive all of us — but it has found a new generation of fans on streaming, first on Netflix and now on Max, to where the series moved when the streamer launched in 2020.

It was the moment that had 52 million people on the edge of their couches during the Friends series finale, which aired 20 years ago today. Ross (David Schwimmer) raced to the airport to make one last-ditch effort to stop Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) from taking her dream job in Paris to stay in New York with him and their daughter Emma, but she got on the plane anyway. At that moment, it seemed the will-they-won’t-they couple of the century was officially over until Ross got home and played a voicemail from Rachel. She was devastated by how they left things and admitted she still had feelings for him. As they bubbled up inside of her, she became desperate to get off the plane to be with him, much to the chagrin of a bothered flight attendant. Rachel started to make a scene, which was recorded over the voicemail playing for a panicked Ross.

On a break. Lobster. Smelly Cat. Commando. Regina Phalange. The beloved TV series Friends, which ended its 10-year-run 20 years ago on May 6, not only changed television but it also helped change the pop culture lexicon.
This could be because it coined a term we still reference today (David Schwimmer’s Ross felt it wasn’t a big deal that he’d slept with someone else because he and Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel had taken a break in their relationship) or simply popularized one.
But is there any real way of knowing ahead of time if a line of dialogue or word choice will pop in the zeitgeist? Or maybe even become a catchphrase?...

Not many shows avoided controversy and appeased mass audiences quite like Friends. Thirty years after its premiere, however, our perception of the series has evolved.
Some say that the show used jokes that capitalized on the intolerant views of the 1990s without any regard for actual wit or intelligence. Others claim that the NBC megahit emulated other better programs, such as Living Single, profiting off of superior greatness without ever crediting its inspiration. No matter what anyone thinks of this David Crane and Marta Kauffman-created series, Friends remains the most culturally relevant sitcom of its era.
Its themes and comfy aesthetics continue to engulf young and old viewers alike in a cozy realm of immature banter and authentic bonding, both platonic and romantic. The show gets millions of views monthly in cable syndication and streaming, making it a beloved fixture of the television zeitgeist a quarter into the 21st century.

Data from Antenna shows there’s a new cohort of serial churner out there for streamers to contend with, and the problem is likely to get worse.
The lack of long-term contracts for subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streaming services is one of the main features that sets them apart from traditional pay-tv plans. Viewers get the option to sign up for a service and cancel whenever they want with no fees, which has led to plenty of creativity among consumers as they try to dodge hefty subscription fee increases and still keep track of where their favorite titles are streaming. The media analytics firm Antenna has measured a 300% increase in the industry-wide cancelation rate as prices rise and the number of new streaming platforms increases, and now the company has identified a new group of churning customers: show chasers, who follow specific titles from platform to platform. Pop-Tarts is getting back at Jerry Seinfeld.
It all started when Seinfeld directed and co-wrote a movie, Unfrosted, about the origin of Pop-Tarts. He also stars in the film, which hits Netflix on May 3.
Unfrosted tells the (fictional) origin story of Pop-Tarts, which resulted in a race between breakfast rivals Kellogg’s and Post to create a pastry for the masses in 1963. While Pop-Tarts do indeed have an origin story, this is not it. (The idea had been percolating with Seinfeld for several years — he even made jokes about Pop-Tarts in his stand-up routine and once tweeted he was mulling over the idea of this film — but Pop-Tarts was not involved in the making of Unfrosted.)
“This really did happen in Battle Creek, Michigan, where Kellogg’s and Post were located, and they did compete to come up with this product,” Seinfeld has said. “But the rest of it is complete lunacy.

There are a number of TV series’ moments that are inscribed in cinematic history because they foretold some of the important events, which happened later, with some of them being likely to become true, while some others were totally unexpected.
Here are 5 TV series that predicted the future a little too accurately.
1. Star Trek (1966-1969) - Moon Landing
The original Star Trek is notorious for its predictions, the most remarkable of which is clearly the depiction of humanity's first landing on the moon. The 1967 episode titled Tomorrow Is Yesterday features a NASA broadcast reviewing the preparations for the game-changing moon landing. Two years later, the USA indeed became the first nation to set foot on the moon with the successful flight of Apollo 11.
2. Friends (1994 - 2004) - Facebook

With all the versatility of myriads of shows popping up in the media literally every day, the nostalgia for good old days (and their series) is still the undoubted winner — and fans have proved yet once again.
Around a week ago, a heated discussion was provoked by one user’s simple question about everyone’s most rewatchable show — and, judging by the amounts of mentions, two particular TV series reigned over the community.
The first choice made by most of the fans was an animated sci-fi sitcom Futurama, the first season of which got its release back in 1999. The plot follows sluggish pizza-deliverer Fry who, after being accidentally frozen, wakes up a thousand years later, in 2999 — and then he still gets to work at a delivery company, but alongside extraterrestrial mutants.

CBS sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show" was a staple for American TV audiences of the '70s, thanks in large part to clever writing and Newhart's much-loved performance as psychologist and comedic straight man Bob Hartley. The show ran for six seasons from 1972 to 1978, but it had a surprisingly long pop cultural afterlife. Characters from "The Bob Newhart Show" have popped up in everything from "Murphy Brown" to "St. Elsewhere" to "Alf," though their most famous reappearance came in the jokey "Newhart" finale in 1990. In it, Newhart wakes up in bed next to his wife from the previous series and discovers that this entire sitcom was all an elaborate dream. "The Bob Newhart Show," it turned out, was his real world.
