Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler has always said that he'd be more than happy to stay on board the franchise and return to helm a third film, and a new rumor is now claiming that he's signed on to do just that.
However, Marvel Studios might be eyeing the filmmaker for another upcoming MCU project!
According to MyTimeToShineHello, the studio wants Coogler to take the helm of the planned X-Men reboot. This follows a previous rumor that a Poc was being sought for the project, and we have heard that Mufasa: The Lion King director Barry Jenkins may also be on Marvel's radar.
Wakanda Forever served as a fitting tribute to T'Challa and the late Chadwick Boseman while establishing Shuri as the new Panther and introducing an entire aquatic civilization. The mid-credits scene also featured the debut of T'Challa's son, who will almost certainly...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the most anticipated MCU release for several reasons. Firstly, it marks the first “R”-rated MCU film and introduces Deadpool to the MCU. Secondly, it promises numerous cameos and variants.
While fans eagerly await cameos from beloved ‘X-Men’ franchise characters, the movie will also feature a plethora of Deadpool variants.
As of now, only a handful have been confirmed, some through trailers and merchandise. One of them is Dogpool, Deadpool’s furry variant, portrayed by a canine named Peggy. Notably, Peggy earned the title of Britain’s Ugliest Dog. Reynolds confessed in a recent interview with Empire that this is precisely why he selected her—it was love at first sight.
She won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog. The reason why I was a huge proponent for her was because she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.

"X-Men '97" has been a dream come true, delivering an even more mature, bold version of the original '90s animated series. Like its predecessor, it directly adapts comic book story arcs, with this show in particular choosing some rather bleak ones.
The season lured us in with the promise of fun nostalgia before shattering that notion with one of the darkest moments in the entire Marvel Studios history with the genocide of mutants in Genosha. This changed everything for the show and for the characters, challenging the very notion of the X-Men, what they stand for, and the legacy of Charles Xavier's work.
But it hasn't all been world-ending threats, the show still has the kind of interpersonal soapy drama fans have always loved from the original. We've got Rogue and (the late) Gambit, Cyclops and the two Jean Greys, with each character in the ensemble getting a chance to shine.

The upcoming Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine is perhaps one of the only films of 2024 that moviegoers are excited about. It is the presumable final film in the Deadpool series and the merger of the Fox-era X-Men and the Marvel Cinematic Universe into one. It is one big love letter to the fans who have been supporting the films for so long. But it almost didn’t happen.
It’s no secret that actor Hugh Jackman has had a love/hate relationship with the role of Logan, aka Wolverine. The actor began playing the character in 2000 with the release of the first X-Men movie and appeared in nine films in both major roles and small cameos. But after so long, he kept saying to himself, “This is the last time”, before eventually returning. The same applies here.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
For all of the many, many logic leaps that superhero stories require, one of the most glaring occurred in X-Men. Why would the X-Men employ Wolverine, a guy with a metal skeleton, to fight Magneto, a guy who controls metal with his mind? Sure, occasional stories addressed this question, at least by having Magneto toss the ol’ Canucklehead across a room from time to time. But the Master of Magnetism rarely pressed his advantage.
Except, that is, for one story, which laid the groundwork for the ninth episode of X-Men ’97, “Tolerance is Extinction Part Two.” The episode recreates a scene from 1993’s X-Men #25, written by Fabian Nicieza and penciled by Andy Kubert, in which Magneto does the unthinkable (or the inevitable?) and tears the adamantium skeleton out of Wolverine’s body.
But more than a mere callback to one of the most shocking Marvel Comics moments ever,...

Wolverine is a character that was conceived to suffer. Throughout his history in comics, films, video games, and TV shows, the character has rarely known respite but carries on anyway. X-Men ’97 is no exception, finally giving the character his inevitable moment of torment in its latest episode.
Wolverine in X-Men ’97
As a character, Logan has often been described as a ronin, a samurai without a master, who is fiercely loyal to those he loves and is a victim of tragedy more often than fortune. It is perhaps this inevitability of ruin that causes Logan to struggle ever harder against his adversaries, especially when it comes to his family and friends, as we see in Episode 9 of X-Men ’97, Tolerance is Extinction Part 2.

A couple of days ago, DC Studios and James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as Superman. It's been a while since we've seen a superhero movie costume divide opinions to such a large degree, but it's certainly not the first time.
The Man of Steel isn't the first character to take centre stage in a splashy sneak peek meant to get fans excited. While that usually works, there are occasions when fans hate what they see. Others, meanwhile, are quick to defend what usually amounts to a complete overhaul which takes place during the transition from page to screen.
This isn't a list of the worst superhero movie costumes...just those that divided opinions when they were first shown off to the world (and sometimes continue to do so to this very day).

Seldom have audiences been treated to a “requel” as exceptional as X-Men ‘97. Critics and fans alike have had nothing but praise for the show, and how it has taken a Saturday morning staple and elevated almost every aspect of production, storytelling, and acting.
When other reboots attempt to cater to a mixed-generation audience, they often have to let the legacy characters (those actors from the original property) share screen time with a new generation. X-Men ‘97 was in a unique position to bring back the original voice cast as if no time had gone by whatsoever.
Lenore Zann, returning as the sassy southerner Rogue, has had plenty of time to evolve outside of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, and that has given her a new perspective on portraying the iconic X-Woman, especially as the character herself has changed. In X-Men ’97, Rogue...

Marvel Studios has a slew of projects in the pipeline, despite Iger’s announcement of a significant reduction in output. One of the most eagerly awaited is undoubtedly a live-action reboot of ‘X-Men.’
The reboot has been on the cards since Disney acquired the rights to Fox properties like X-Men and Fantastic Four. While we can’t confirm if the rumor we have is directly linked to the X-Men reboot, it certainly seems likely.
Reportedly, Marvel Studios is eyeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to portray the well-known X-Men villain, Apocalypse. Apocalypse was previously portrayed by Oscar Isaac in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse,’ and since Isaac is already cast as Moon Knight in the MCU, it makes sense they’re looking for a different actor.

Hugh Jackman’s portrayal as the iconic X-Men character has only aged like fine wine over the past two decades. The actor, who has been playing the character throughout his Hollywood career, is once again set to embody the fierce mutant in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine and he looks even more remarkable donning the classic Wolverine look on-screen. However, transforming himself into the character has definitely not been an easy feat for the actor.

X-Men ’97 is already nailing everything and scoring an eternal place in its viewers’ hearts, with more than 90% of audiences and nearly 100% of critics impressed by the immaculate way this story has been helmed. Death is not permanent, not in the Multiversal saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe anyway. Of course, we have mourned the death of the beloved villain turned-hero with a glorious purpose, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki but we got him back with an even more interesting twist— further exploration of the character even without the inherent shadow of his brother, Thor, as depicted in the previous movies in the MCU.
Robert Dowmey Jr. as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
Like Loki’s apparent death, fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man demise was perhaps the saddest part for any MCU fan. Like Loki’s apparent death, fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man demise was perhaps the saddest part for any MCU fan. There's only two more episodes of X-Men '97 to go, and Marvel Studios has released a clip from tomorrow's penultimate season 1 chapter, "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2."
The preview finds our mutant heroes suiting-up in new costumes for their impending battle with Bastion and his forces.
The outfits are a mixture of the team's classic looks, and the costumes they wore in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men. The clip also sees Jubilee burn Roberto DaCosta's business card, so Sunspot must have decided not to join the fight.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo hinted at the costume change when he shared the unused pilot for Pryde of the X-Men earlier today.
DeMayo was also asked if he's ever heard any talk of adding Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat to the X-Men '97 roster.
"I haven’t, but my suspicion is Jubilee and Kitty slightly compete in terms of their age and Pov on the team.

The rise of social media has seen a rise in the number of so-called scoopers sharing inside information. Many of them have no more credibility than your average Reddit commenter, but then there are those with a solid track record.
@MyTimeToShineH (mostly) falls into the latter category, and whether you want to put that down to lucky guesses or legit sources, they've dropped more hits than misses in recent years.
This latest claim, though, is one we're struggling to believe. Then again, stranger things have happened!
Apparently, Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is on Marvel Studios' radar to play En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse. We'd assume this is for the upcoming X-Men reboot, though it's possible he'd play a Variant of the villain in one of the upcoming Avengers movies seeing as many of the original X-Men are expected to appear.

At a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe is awaiting the grand and proper entry of the mutants with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, its animation branch has dipped itself back into nostalgia with X-Men ‘97. The reboot series picked up the aesthetics of the original series that ran from 1992 to 1997 and has so far showcased the wide universe of mutants and their existential conflict with humanity. Once again, the likes of Magneto and Cyclops take the center stage following the absence of Charles Xavier.
From tackling threats in the Genosha attack to braving misery, gaining confidence, and re-attaining their powers, the show has expanded in-depth into the world of the mutants. Thus, an analysis and matchup of their abilities from the comics as well as their storyline through the series so far, can help establish a ranking to lay out the five strongest of the...

While the X-Men's mission forces them to work outside the law, certain teams have found ways to fight for mutant rights within the system as officially sanctioned strike forces.
In the upcoming "From the Ashes" era, that tradition continues in a new volume of X-Factor from Eisner-winning writer Mark Russell (Fantastic Four: Life Story) and acclaimed X-Men artist Bob Quinn (Captain America).
Formed by the government in response to a post-Krakoa outbreak of mutant paramilitary, ops squads, and mercenary teams, X-Factor will be co-led by Angel and Havok and include recruits like Pyro, Frenzy, Feral, and more.
Part special agents for missions that require an arsenal of superpowers and part celebrity propaganda machine, X-Factor will wage war against emerging factions like the Mutant Underground and X-Term. Whether they believe in their actions or are just doing it for a check, the members of X-Factor are no fools when it comes to shady politics.

Lord of the Rings has shaped many a child’s life almost a century apart. Be it J. R. R. Tolkien’s literary series in the 1930s or Peter Jackson’s trilogies in the 2000s, the franchise has brought the world of epic high fantasy tales involving Elves, hobbits, kings, and wizards just a little bit closer to our fingertips.

However, while the audience and critics have been in love with Peter Jackson’s masterpiece, the filmmaker has been slaving away in his studio to come up with ways to make the world seem more realistic on screen, rather than a CGI-infested botched job. Sir Ian McKellen then gladly served himself up as the victim of the director’s experimentation.

Today, there are so many superhero movies and TV shows that the genre as a whole needs a rethink and a new approach. Peacemaker, The Boys, Gen V and Invincible have already ironically and brutally poked fun at the absurdity of superheroes.
About a year ago, Emma Moran from Northern Ireland wrote a script for a typical sitcom about young friends in London, submitted it to a competition and won. Then, quite unexpectedly for the debutant, the series was ordered by Disney+ and a superhero topic was added.
Even before the premiere of the first season, the project was renewed for a second season. Extraordinary was 2023’s biggest comedy gem and deservedly received a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dark Matter releases on Apple TV+ on May 8th, 2024.
In 2016 Blake Crouch published his novel Dark Matter. It was a thrilling story exploring the possibilities of varying realities and alternate universes through the multiverse. The concept of the multiverse in entertainment was nothing new; however, this was years before the multiverse boom that now engulfs Marvel, DC and even the Oscars with hits like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All At Once.
I had the chance to speak with the series’ star Jimmi Simpson and Executive Producers Blake Crouch and Matt Tolmach.
The Plot
Jason Desson (Joel Edgerton), his wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and his friend Ryan (Jimmi Simpson) all have varying encounters with the multiverse in this parallel universe spanning thriller from writer Blake Crouch.

A major draw of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ appears to be the abundance of cameos and variants slated to feature in the film. Currently, there are rumors or confirmations of 25 characters from the former Fox ‘X-Men’ franchise and other properties making appearances.
Among them is Dafne Keen’s Laura. While her character’s presence hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans speculate her involvement based on the strong hints towards Wolverine’s past, or at least one of his variants, which seem to allude to the character.
Dafne Keen portrayed Laura in ‘Logan,’ widely acclaimed as one of the finest Wolverine films.
Laura, born in 2016, was among the offspring of the Transigen Project led by Zander Rice. Created using genetic material from mutants and carried by captive women, Laura inherited Wolverine’s healing abilities and retractable claws. Unlike him, her skeleton lacked full adamantium coating. One of the biggest selling points of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ seems to be the unprecedented amount of cameos and variants set to appear in the movie. So far, we have 25 characters from former Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise and other properties either rumored to appear or confirmed to appear.
One of them is Dafne Keen’s Laura. Although the character was never explicitly confirmed to be in the movie, fans have assumed as much since Wolverine’s past, or at least the past of one of his variants seems to heavily nod toward the character.
Dafne Keen appeared as Laura in ‘Logan’ which is by far praised to be one of the best Wolverine movies.

Ian McKellen is one of the most respected and talented actors in Hollywood. Over the course of his lengthy career, he established himself as a force to be reckoned with, achieving so much through his acting career that he was even knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. His versatility knows no limitations, having starred in many different kinds of roles and movies from all genres.
Sir Ian McKellen as Gandolf in The Hobbit
Considering just how talented and successful he is, it is not surprising that the actor is offered many different types of roles. Sometimes that may be through lesser-known sources, and others they may be very high-profile projects.
It would seem that the actor was asked to be a part of Tom Cruise’s iconic film series, Mission: Impossible, being offered the role of Commander Swanbeck in the second movie. Interestingly enough, the actor rejected this offer due to one reason.

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return.
According to the latest rounds of rumors, and one synopsis, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ won’t reference only old Fox’s ‘X-Men,’ it’s also going to revisit key moments from phases 1-4 and it’s going to reference The Punisher.

The newly unveiled trailer also confirms the return of familiar faces from both the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises.
Recent rumors, along with a synopsis, suggest that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ won’t just harken back to the old Fox ‘X-Men’ era; it’s also poised to revisit pivotal moments from phases 1-4 and include nods to The Punisher.

While there have been many reports behind the scenes of multiple actors and actresses returning to reprise past non-mcu Marvel roles, nothing has been officially concrete to show off in the trailers. Not to mention, we don’t have an entirely clear picture of the main motivation in the story.

Even if you’ve never read a single X-Men comic book in your life, you probably still know some of the big stories. The Dark Phoenix Saga, in which Jean Grey gets possessed by a world-destroying entity of unspeakable power. Days of Future Past, in which an X-Man from the future comes to the present to prevent the unthinkable. Weapon X, in which Wolverine is transformed into a killing machine.
These stories get told and retold in movies, cartoon shows, and video games, and with good reason. They’re among the best superhero stories ever written. But they’re hardly the only good stories in X-Men history. The team has existed since 1963, and while they didn’t hit their stride until writer Chris Claremont took over in 1974, that still leaves decades worth of complex, complicated issues to unravel.

The two buzziest TV shows of 2024 so far are FX's "Shōgun," adapting James Clavell's 1975 book about an Englishman who winds up in 17th century Japan from novel to miniseries, and "X-Men '97," a revival of every millennial's favorite "X-Men" cartoon from 1992. But what if I told you there was a comic out there which combined the thrills of both these shows into one?
That comic is Hiroaki Samura's samurai manga "Blade of the Immortal." Set during Japan's Edo period, the titular immortal is Manji, a ronin with a checkered past. So checkered, in fact, that he was cursed by a witch with kessen-chū — "bloodworms," or grubs infused in his body that enable him to heal from almost any injury and keep Manji in his physical prime.
If you've been watching "Shōgun," you'll know how important honorable death was to warriors in feudal Japan, so Manji's immortality is not a gift.

X-Men '97 Cameo Gets Fans Hopeful for Another '90s Marvel Series Reboot - Main Image
The eighth episode of X-Men ‘97 brought the suspense for what will happen to our mutant heroes and left fans excited for what’s next in Marvel Animation.
[Spoiler Warning For Episode 8 Of X-men '97]
Towards the end of Tolerance is Extinction, Pt. 1, Magneto unleashes a massive electromagnetic wave all over the planet to stop the Prime Sentinels from attacking the mutants. Elsewhere on earth, various characters felt the wide-reaching impact of Magneto’s anger, including the Silver Samurai (Japan) and Omega Red (presumably in Russia).
Both characters are connected to the X-Men lore and have appeared in X-Men: The Animated Series, so their cameos may or may not hold any meaning for future seasons. However, one cameo surprisingly came swinging in, teasing fans about the possibility of another classic series reboot.

Equal parts violent and zany, this lethal mercenary, also known as the "Merc with a Mouth," first appeared in the "New Mutants" comic series in December 1990, albeit as a villain. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) went on to star in his own mini-series. He eventually gained notoriety for his dark humor, meta-commentary, and affinity for breaking the fourth wall. Over the years, Deadpool has teamed up with or battled alongside Marvel's hero gallery and has since become one of the brand's most popular characters. In fact, according to Gitnux Marketdata Report, he's the most liked character on Facebook. So take that, Iron Man!
The release of 2016's "Deadpool," starring Ryan Reynolds as Wilson, further cemented the character's popularity. Uniquely, this was the actor's second stint in the role, though the less said about his...

The scoops never stop coming in for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Several scoopers have reported the appearance of one crucial character from the original X-Men movies, specifically from Logan. It is reported that Dafne Keen’s Laura Kinney / X-23 will appear in the film alongside a bunch of other superheroes to fight Cassandra Nova’s league of supervillains. Keen herself has hinted at her potential role in the film in a recent interview.
Dafne Keen’s X-23 aka Laura Kinney from Logan is expected to make an appearance in Deadpool 3
Her somewhat cryptic answer to the question about her appearance has given fans some hope to see her in Deadpool 3. Interestingly, Channing Tatum’s Gambit and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra are two other characters who are reported to appear alongside X-23 in the film.

Is Marvel combatting superhero fatigue by incorporating aspects of classic cinema? Not yet apparently, but Ryan Reynolds seemed very interested in doing so at one point. Speaking to Empire for a cover feature on “Deadpool & Wolverine” in next week’s issue, Reynolds told them his first pitch to Kevin Feige for the film was a “‘Rashomon’ story about Wolverine and Deadpool and something that they got into together, but told from three completely different perspectives.”
For context, “Rashomon” is a 1950 Jidaigeki drama from Akira Kurosawa that was the first Japanese film to receive international acclaim, winning the Golden Lion at the 1951 Venice Film Festival, as well as an Honorary Oscar in 1952. The film tells the story of how a samurai was murdered, multiple times through multiple vantage points. Its plot has been repurposed in a number of films and television series over the decades including “The Outrage,” “Courage Under Fire,...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie stands out as a pivotal MCU release for numerous reasons. Anticipation is soaring as it marks Deadpool’s entry into the MCU, promises the inclusion of Wolverine and a plethora of cameos, and notably, it’s the MCU’s inaugural “R” rated venture.
However, despite the excitement, Reynolds disclosed in a recent Empire interview that not all initial concepts for the film came to fruition.
Ryan seemed to want to make a big movie in a small way, but Feige didn’t think it would work out.
It was a Rashomon story about Wolverine and Deadpool and something that they got into together, but told from three completely different perspectives. It was a way to make a large-scale movie in a very small way. I went back to the drawing board, and I wrote up about 18 different treatments. Some of them almost like a Sundance film,...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is currently the most important MCU release for several reasons. The movie is generating incredible amounts of hype due to being the movie that brings Deadpool to the MCU, having Wolverine and lots of cameos in it, and being the MCU’s first “R” rated movie.
Surprisingly enough, not all plans for the movie paid off. In a recent interview for Empire, Reynolds revealed that he rejected the original ideas he had for the movie.
Ryan apparently wanted to make a large-scale movie in a small way, and it wasn’t something that Feige had seen being successful.

X-Men '97 has featured a handful of memorable cameos from some high-profile Marvel characters, including Spider-Man and Captain America.
The latter is best known for leading The Avengers, and with everything this world's mutants are going through - including Magneto seemingly declaring war on humanity - could a clash between them and the X-Men be on the horizon?
Talking to ComicBook.com (via Toonado.com), Professor X actor Ross Marquand shared his belief that there's "a real chance" the two teams go head-to-head in an animated adaptation of Avengers vs. X-Men.
"You saw what happened in the last episode [with] Rogue and Captain America," Marquand started. "There's a real chance that that could happen. He can't fly. Captain can't fly. She threw that in the side of a snowy mountain."
"I'm sure it's lodged in there 50 feet deep. He ain't gonna find that shield," he joked. "It's not like Mjolnir where...

Marvel Studios has started ramping up Deadpool & Wolverine's marketing campaign, and Iron Studios has today shared a first look at an upcoming 1/10th scale statue.
As you'll see below, it depicts Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), Logan (Hugh Jackman), and Dogpool in a pretty unique way. Does this mean we can expect Wolverine to actually carry Deadpool like this at some point in the threequel? We really hope so.
By now, we've seen a fair bit of Wolverine's costume, but this statue has the distinct honour of showing us what it looks like from behind. There's nothing much to write home about in that respect (it's not rocking a big "X" logo or anything), but it's an overall great design.
Of course, it raises the question of how Marvel Studios plans on matching this when they introduce Earth-616's Wolverine in the eventual X-Men reboot. Perhaps that Variant will don Logan's brown suit.
