Following Joni Mitchell’s return to Spotify, the singer-songwriter will release The Asylum Albums (1976-1980), out June 21 via Rhino.
The box set contains a remastering of Mitchell’s albums from the late Seventies: 1976’s Hejira (1976), 1977’s Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter, 1979’s Mingus, and the 1980 live album Shadows and Light. You won’t find any unreleased recordings or outtakes here; Mitchell will include those on the official Archives Vol. 4, expected later this year.
Each record on The Asylum Albums (1976-1980) was remastered from flat analong master tapes by Bernie Grundman.

From the time Joan Baez gave her first performances as a teenager in the late 1950s, she possessed a remarkable soprano voice with distinctive vibrato that paired magically with acoustic guitar. Baez also displayed an exceptional stage presence — confident, natural and serene.
But as the documentary Joan Baez I Am a Noise reveals, that appearance of almost divine tranquility was deceiving.
“Before a concert the stage fright was beyond what it should have been. It was terrible,” Baez tells Deadline. “There would be times when I would have a complete panic attack before the show and I would ask somebody, ‘Just shove me out there.’ And once I got out there I could do it and, for the most part, enjoy myself… But yeah, it was tumultuous. It was up and down.”

Netflix has debuted a trailer for its latest documentary, “Léa & I,” which follows the lives of Léa Moret, a young woman diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and her friend, Camille Shooshani. After graduating from college in Los Angeles, the two women take off across Latin America in search of a cure for Moret’s disease outside Western medicine.

Lest you forget that Tracee Ellis Ross is Diana Ross's daughter, the former has re-created her mom's fitness frenzy of a music video for "Work That Body," off 1981's Why Do Fools Fall in Love. The clip comes as a tribute from younger to elder Ross, as well as — obviously — an ode to female empowerment. Ross said she felt like this video tapped into a special kind of joy about the female body. "Why does watching this woman dancing around in barely any clothes with her tush to the camera make me feel joyful and empowered when the same kind of image in most music videos today doesn’t give me that feeling?" she writes on her website. "[My mom] didn’t seem to be presenting her ass or saying look at all the ways I can make myself look appealing to You. She seems to be saying, 'this is...

Tracee Ellis Ross is shaking what her mama gave her! The NAACP Image Award-winning Black-ish actress recently decided to recreate Diana Ross' music video for "Work That Body." The single appeared on the singer's 1981 album, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and was a Top 10 hit in the U.K. Elliss Ross, 42, is the second-born daughter of Ross, 71, who has five children. "I decided to recreate my mom's 'Work That Body' video from 1981 as a fun experiment and a surprise for my mama! And Ode to her! While she has so, so many incredible moments to choose from, this one had an impact on me. At first I wasn't sure why, but in true 'Tracee' fashion I became a little obsessed. I...

Tyanna Jones sang “Proud Mary” and “Why Do Fools Fall In Love.” Clark Beckham sang “Moon River” and “Superstition.” Jax sang “Beat It” and “Piece of My Heart.” Nick Fradiani performed “Only the Good Die Young” and “American Girl.” Quentin Alexander sang “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and “The Sound of Silence.” Joey Cook sang “Somebody to Love” and “My Funny Valentine.” Rayvon Owen belted out “Always On My Mind” and “The Doobie Brothers.” At this point, it had been revealed that everyone was safe except for poor Joey Cook and Rayvon Owen. So, they had to hope the live Twitter voting would save them. And Rayvon got lucky again with the save, which means Joey Cook had to hit the road and get ready for the 2015 American Idol concert tour.

Last night's Mistresses, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?," had a couple of surprises: Jacob was dating Karen's suicidal patient, Zack admits to having feelings for Savi, and Joss is moving in with Scott. The one that really got me though, was Daniel's revelation that he's married. Say what? Okay. Back up. Run that by me again. Sexy Smoldering is ... married?
Holy adultrification, Batman. April just cannot get a break! Even sadder was April's heartbroken return to Daniel's apartment in the end with no intention of talking. What is happening? Well, the name of the show is Mistresses, not Girlfriends or Sex in the City. So, come on, we shouldn't be too surprised. However, of the four women, April seems to be the only one with a conscience, so her going back to him did surprise me. Did it surprise you?...

Fun fact: This week’s Mistresses is officially sponsored by the letters “O,” “M,” “F” and “G.” But don’t get it twisted: The letters in question should not be locked exclusively in the standard “Oh Em Eff Gee” formation.

This week's Mistresses episode, "Why Do Fools Fall In Love," has everyone down on their knees begging for forgiveness. It's a veritable bloodbath of contrition as several characters find themselves in some really nasty (awesome) situations that make for great (fantastic) entertainment. Others end up totally screwed ... and not in a good way. Let's discuss.
We open slowly with Karen making a date with "tall drink of water" Jacob to cook him "dinner" at her place (food, then sex, or just sex). Don't let the slow start fool you. These two are the center of a jaw-dropping final scene. More on that in a moment.

J. August Richards, well-known for his work in movies and television, such as The Temptations and as Gunn on the popular television show Angel, took some time out of his schedule to talk exclusively with FEARnet about his upcoming role on the new hit series, Arrow.
FEARnet: With the upcoming April 24th episode of Arrow, you'll be playing a character called Mr. Blank. Can you tell us a bit about him?
J. August Richards: What I can tell you is that I've never played a role like this before in my life, and I was extremely challenged by it and very afraid of it. Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer, thought of me for the role after he saw an episode of Emily Owens, M.D. that I did. He immediately thought of me for it; I don't know why.
[laughter]

Rihanna is a victim of domestic abuse. All of her decisions as they pertain to Chris Brown align with common victim behavior.

Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery debate which 'Then and Now' hits the 'Idol' top seven should tackle.

Jessica Sanchez performs on "American Idol"

The "American Idol" top seven took on current hits last week, and look how well things turned out! Uh, wait, never mind.
Anyway, after Jessica Sanchez escaped elimination thanks to the judges' save (which officially marked the first time this season they've actually done something right), "Idol" producers decided to up the ante for Wednesday night's (April 18) show by letting the contestants sing both a #1 from the past decade — since it worked so well before — and a classic soul tune.
Yes, it's "Then and Now" week on "Idol," which, come to think of it, is a pretty apt way of viewing the show's steady decline. It also means we're going to see the usual front-runners strut their stuff: Sanchez will dominate a Beyoncé hit,...

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (Warner Bros.) An eleven year-old boy (newcomer Thomas Horn, in an incredible debut) discovers a mysterious key amongst the possessions of his late father (Tom Hanks) who perished in 9/11. Determined to find the lock it matches, the boy embarks on a Picaresque odyssey across New York City. Director Stephen Daldry and screenwriter Eric Roth have fashioned a film both grand and intimate, beautifully-adapted from Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel, thought by most who read it to be unfilmable. Fine support from Jeffrey Wright, Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, Viola Davis and the great Max von Sydow. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.
Battle Royale: The Complete Collection (Anchor Bay) Adapted from Koushun Takami’s polarizing novel (compared by champions and detractors alike as a 21st century version of A Clockwork Orange) and set in a futuristic Japan,...

As Hollywood Week drags on for what seems like its fifth week, the "American Idol" hopefuls are put through another group performance. Except they get more time and professional-looking costumes and lighting, so it's not quite as fun as the crazy Group Night.
We kick things off on the bus that hauls the Idols to Las Vegas, for reasons kind of passing understanding. Why move venues? Why not keep them in the same building they've been living in for all of Hollywood Week and just completely Stockholm Syndrome them?
The judges tell the 70 kids left that they are going to sing music from the 1950s1960s, which will definitely prepare them for on the live shows when they get criticized for being current or not knowing who they are as an artist. *eye roll*
Now, I'm criticizing music from this era. I love the 50s/60s. Love. But ... c'mon. We all know how "Idol" is.

With 70 contestants still standing, “American Idol” kicked it old school in Las Vegas with songs from the 50s and 60s. Singers performed in groups of three and four and each team was styled and costumed for the first time. And unlike pretty much every episode so far this season, nobody fainted, fell off the stage, or got rushed to the hospital. But there was drama, and there were, of course tears.

We have been informed that four of the numbers for tonight’s show have been specially arranged for the ITV show and during the results show, the band will sing their self-penned track ‘Gambling Man’.

Peter Andre ignored his doctor's advice by taking to the stage on Monday night, December 13. The "Behind Closed Doors" hitmaker, who was rushed to hospital with kidney poisoning last month, admitted that though performing at London's The O2 was a "dream come true", he had gone against the advice of medical experts.
"This is one of the places everyone, me in particular, dreams of performing," he explained. "I never thought in a billion years I'd be performing to a crowd like this. I actually had to go to hospital and have an operation last month, and the doctor advised me not to perform. But here I am!"
The 37-year-old singer, who raises three children with ex-wife Katie Price, her son Harvey, eight, and their two kids, Junior, five, and Princess Tiaamii, three, also spoke of how being around blind and autistic Harvey helped him to "grow up".
Peter added, "Harvey taught me to grow up.

With the new tv show Undercovers premiering next month, starring the already oft-mentioned Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who I know best at Freema Agyeman’s (#1 on my ‘Wifey List’) sister on Dr. Who, and pretty-boy extraordinaire Boris Kodjoe, I thought I’d focus on what seems to be, in a good way, a proliferation of Black men on tv shows lately. Although these guys are supporting characters, they’re playing some pretty intense roles and putting forth some great comedic and dramatic performances. Though none of these are network shows like Undercovers, they are often better (and sometimes better performing) than those.

On last week’s Over The Rainbow, Andrew Lloyd Webber and his panel of judges whittled down the Dorothy hopefuls to just 9. So far we have lost Amy Diamond and Bronte Barbe, we are hoping that wildcard Dorothy Emilie leaves this week, lets be honest, she never should have made to the live shows anyway!
