Amusing, even quaint

Tim McCoy/Victor Milt is a porn director famous for "Sex Wish", who has latterly worked on mainstream projects. This farce made in a period alongside similarly designed "Sher-Lick Holmes" pays tribute to the spirit of 1930s Hollywood films while maintaining a sustained "dirty movie approach" that continues to appeal to fans of vintage Adult Cinema.

The team of Harry Reems and Bobby Astyr, both fixtures in NY '70s porn features, ham it up without limits, offering farcical humor that is mirrored in the highly theatrical approach throughout the intentionally silly movie. There are quasi-serious, sentimental moments involving Reems as scientist Charles Jekyll (replete with excessively phony beard) with his wife Linda played by the great C. J. Laing, but over-the-top face-pulling comedy reigns.

Unlike 21st Century porn, the XXX explicit content is played for laughs, with insert shots of ejaculations, climaxing in a comic ritual presided over by guest player Zebedy Colt, as he has Reems in his alter ego Rory Hump (beardless "rock star" in place of Mr. Hyde in this version of the tale) succeed at having sex with 100 women styled as harem girls. Most of the briefest of brief sex scenes in this segment consist of just cum shots, mostly not by Reems himself.

I enjoyed the old-timey elements, sometimes riffing on Mel Brooks approach in "Young Frankenstein" but also including the tropes of '30s movies especially in the grand dame character played by Edna Charles, as well as the line readings style adopted by C. J. Overall the show is radically different from today's approach to hardcore porn and its ultra-lengthy sex scenes that always grind the movie's story elements to a halt.
