- Several of the characters in the film have social dysfunctions, which leads them to behavior that most people would find disturbing, for example making obscene phone calls, murder, and suicide. Most of the suspense in the film lies in its complete emotional bleakness.

- A father has a chat with his son about sex specifically about cum. This is quite am uncomfortable and inappropriate conversation.
- A father admits to his son that he would masturbate to avoid having sex with him.
- It's implied that a man is a pedophile. He later admits this to his son.

- A character goes through a park and shoots several people at random - some dead bodies seen with blood where they have been shot. When this is over, it is revealed to be a dream. He is discussing this with his therapist.
