With a title that suggests the first western movie to star John Wayne, THE BIG TRAIL, Krazy Kat and itty are in a wagon train where someone plays a musical tune every few seconds: old American songs like "Oh, Susanna!" and "The Yellow Ribbon, but just wait until you see what the Indians dance to!
Cartoons were firmly in the sound era by this time, but it wasn't what we think of as sound cartoons, with Bugs Bunny leaning against a tree, munching on a carrot and asking "What's up, Doc?" as Elmer Fudd shoves the barrel of a shotgun against him. Hugh Harman, Rudy Ising and Friz Frleng were still trying to sell their technique of matching words to the faces of cartoon characters. Instead, it was mostly a synchronized score, with cartoon characters moving in time to music.
