We're not supposed to ask where he got a hot-air balloon, of course. Neither are we intended to aks where his parents or guardians are. Where does he get his money? Whence the house he and Oopie live in and the various things they buy in these cartoons, from house trailers to rocket ships. Classic cartooning, from the rise of sound through the middle of the 1950s, was an outgrowth of the comedic world of silent comedy, not bound by the rules of our universe as we know them.
