Snap Happy was one of the more irritatingly contrived Little Lulu cartoons
Just watched this Little Lulu cartoon on YouTube. Like a previous one I reviewed called Bargain Counter Attack, this has Lulu at odds with a male adult figure only unlike that one, Lulu is really pestering him whereas in BCA, she's only doing things that simply bother the store manager who at least had a set-up scene of how mean he was to other employees that made it easy to laugh at him. Oh, and like that short's manager, the photographer here who is constantly bothered is voiced by Jackson Beck, he of the Bluto voice in the Popeye cartoons. There are some funny sight gags like a woman's bra ending up in some movie star's face or a speaker at a fountain statue unveiling ending up in a couple of the female statues' arms and talking to them. The ending is also pretty amusing. But the whole premise is too contrived with Lulu doing outlandish stunts that you wouldn't expect a kid to do (though I tolerated them in BCA) and her bothering the photographer was really just irritating. And where are her parents in all of this? Having said all that, at least the print I watched was clear and it had the original Paramount credits instead of that of the UM&M ones on red background...
