Bob Hope’s memory will live on forever as his daughter Linda is having a garage sale at the star’s Toluca Lake home this weekend.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the sale will be held at 10346 Moorpark Street on December 8-9th. Fans will be able to purchase small items like christmas decorations and collectables that Hope and his wife, Dolores owned. But as far as being able to buy furniture or artwork, that you’ll have to wait for as those items are expected to be auctioned in the fall of 2013.
The couple’s daughter said the sale is the first step in preparing the famous property to go on the market."The garage is being cleaned out of things to prepare it, but it's not ready to be on the market yet. Eventually, it will be sold,” she said.

Judging by The Voice's first two winners Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul, NBC's ratings juggernaut is not determined to build superstars on the strength of its Nielsen numbers. It's content with letting American Idol boast the iTunes supernovas (even Phillip Phillips notched a download hit this summer with his Olympic gymnast anthem "Home"), and it's mostly concerned with being watchable. That's fine, but I only adored a small faction of auditioners from Monday night's premiere. Let's rank my five favorites from fifth to first and spend some extra time obsessing over the most kickass gay contestant we'll probably see in primetime this season. (Check out all of the contestants' performances here.)

Where did American jobs go? Did Drake expect his album to get leaked? And how do you cope with living apart from your spouse? A look at the most interesting posts from the Wall Street Journal blogs.
Where Are the Jobs? A Look Back at Growth Drivers: What’s wrong with the American job engine? The simple answer is that the economy is growing far too slowly to employ the available work force. But there’s a deeper issue going on.

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? Stake Land Trailer Jim Mickle isn't a name many should know but you've got to admit this guy has something worth being aware of after seeing this trailer.

I was saddened to learn this morning that Betty Garrett, the great star of stage, screen, and TV, passed away yesterday at the age of 94 after suffering an aortic aneurysm.
Garrett was one of those rare people — like, say, Jack Valenti — who happened to be a witness to and/or participant in a remarkably high number of historic events of the 20th century. She was a member of Orson Welles’s famed Mercury Theatre company, and was with him on the night that he shook up America with his infamous radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” (1938); she was Frank Sinatra’s leading lady in two of the earliest great M-g-m musical-comedies, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” (1949) and “On the Town” (1949); her career was greatly hurt by the Hollywood Red Scare after her husband, the Oscar nominated actor Larry Parks, refused to name names before the House Committee...

The holiday season just isn't officially underway until the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (I don't care how early the stores think it starts), and what better entrance to the Thanksgiving holiday than a couple of Christmas specials? Well, it doesn't all have to make perfect sense.
Tonight, NBC is leading you into the holidays with Merry Madagascar and a Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special, and I have some previews of those for you below. Tomorrow, you obviously don't want to miss the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and though I don't think it needs any hype at this point, I have some cool videos for that as well. Finally, NBC's take on Thanksgiving night festivities is Taylor Swift's special Speak Now.
To be completely honest, the holiday season may not make as much sense as it used to, what with malls decked out in tinsel and trimmings before Halloween, but...

Kid Rock kept it relatively clean while hosting the show in Nashville.

It was a bittersweet celebration of sorts, as many of country's biggest names gathered at downtown's Bridgestone Arena less than a month after Nashville was devastated by floods that destroyed thousands of priceless instruments and put such city landmarks as the Grand Ole Opry under several feet of water.

This, for the benefit of future rock historians, is the transscript of a screenplay I wrote in the summer of 1977. It was tailored for the historic punk rock band the Sex Pistols, and was to be directed by Russ Meyer and produced by the impresario Malcolm McLaren. It still carried its original title, "Anarchy in the U.K.," although shortly after I phoned up with a suggested title change, which was accepted: "Who Killed Bambi?" I wrote about this adventure in my blog entry McLaren & Meyer & Rotten & Vicious & me. Discussions with Meyer, McLaren and Rene Daalder led to this draft. All I intend to do here is reprint it. Comments are open, but I can't discuss what I wrote, why I wrote it, or what I should or shouldn't have written. Frankly, I have no idea.

Chicago – Audrey Hepburn and Dane Cook. You won’t find that kind of variety too many places outside of HollywoodChicago’s DVD & Blu-Ray Round-Up. From serial killers to musicals to a British import, this week’s round-up features an exciting variety of titles.
Some of these are agreed-upon classics, while at least one features arguably the most critically despised actor alive. And before you see a certain 3D horror movie this weekend, you should check out the available special edition.
“Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Funny Face,” “Little Britain USA,” “My Best Friend’s Girl,” and “My Bloody Valentine”. Try and find a lineup that diverse anywhere other than the round-up.
(Check out the first edition of the round-up, the second edition, and a few Blu-Ray Round-Ups here and here.)
All of these titles were released on January 13th, 2009.
