- The new teacher of a small town high school, who champions morality, asks parents to take better care of their children. However, the town is so rife with sin, including incest, child abuse and rape, that it corrupts her as well.
- A new administrator arrives at a school where a couple of female teachers have already been raped. She tries disciplining a couple of the more rowdy male students, but they don't pay her any respect. The setting weaves the lives (read: sex lives) of various town folk, and they're all screwed up. On the outside, they appear to be normal, middle-class Americans, but St. James soon discovers the reverse is true. The Bible-thumping preacher, for example, frequents a whorehouse and jerks off watching a hooker play with herself. Everyone is screwing some one other than his or her spouse.—Ørnås
- Miss Martin arrives to Vista Valley high school as the new English teacher. The principal warns her that two previous substitutes were raped by unknown assailants and had to leave town under circumstances that aren't entirely clear. Miss Martin doesn't show any concern over this and, after suffering through a provocative mime performance from one of her students, manages to put her class under control. Two of her students, Sandra and Greg, decide not to go to class, and Greg gets the seemingly reluctant Sandra to blow him in his car, instead.
Another student in the class is pig-tailed Polly, a nice quiet girl who's been terrorized all her life by her father, an unhinged control freak and conservative, bible-thumping, fire and brimstone zealot, who's secretly a giant perverted hypocrite with a creepy incestuous obsession with his daughter. He visits a black prostitute and pays her to masturbate in front of him, while he does the same. Unfortunately, this makes him feel guilty, so he physically attacks her and accuses her of sinning. She manages to fight him off and he leaves home. There, he forces topless Polly to dress in front of him, creepily ogling her and angrily warning her not to commit any sins while in school. He also forces her to put on her bra, which she hates because none of the girls in school wears it. After she leaves the house, Polly, without removing her shirt first, immediately takes it off and pulls it out through her sleeves, like a pro. Meanwhile, topless Sandra has a fight with her single mother, Judy, over each other's promiscuity.
In the third household, Walter and Jan, father and stepmother of another female student from Miss Martin's class have a fight, so Jan refuses to have sex with Walter. Walter teases her for being British (implying that all British women pretend to be frigid but actually like it rough) and forces himself on her. She begrudgingly gives in and after he's done, turns out the radio to find something to masturbate to. A sports report on Yankees and Dodgers doesn't do it for her, so she switches the station, finds a romantic song and goes to town on herself, which ends with her orgasming violently (and seemingly for real, since her apparent vaginal contractions are visible). After this, she complains that her husband never wants to have sex with her, up until he gets so sexually frustrated that he forces himself on her but then never lets her finish, which is then making her even more sexually frustrated than he is. She also has a fight with her stepdaughter (they mutually hate each other), who calls her a bitch. Jan complains to Walter over this but he doesn't care.
Miss Martin organizes a PTA meeting, and both Polly's father and Sandra's mother arrive to hear what she's going to say. Miss Martin then begins to thoroughly explain why moral and discipline are needed and how children should be protected from abuse. After hearing this, Polly's father zooms out and starts either daydreaming about or flashbacking to the evening when Polly returned from school in her school uniform. He notices that she's not wearing her bra and accuses her of whoring herself. He also condemns her for wearing makeup. He then starts reading from the Bible and promises more punishment for Polly. Polly desperately defends herself claiming that she's been good, so her father creepily approaches her, touches her and asks her is she's still a virgin then. She claims that she is and he begins to force himself on her, fingering her, kissing her and undressing her, while claiming that he wants to check it for himself. Although horrified at first, Polly suddenly starts acting like she's beginning to like it and soon begs him to continue. He proceeds to have sex with her, technically taking her virginity (although this fact is never referenced and no blood is shown). She screams with pleasure, calls him daddy, begs her to continue and eventually orgasms. He then gets up, masturbates a bit and cums in her mouth, making her keep his penis in, which she apparently does willingly. He comes out of his daydream/flashback at this point and continues listening to Miss Martin's address.
Meanwhile, Judy also zooms out and either daydreams or has a flashback about the time when Greg's dad, the town's gas station owner and mechanic, came to her house to bill her for the repairs on her car. She tries to get him to has sex with her, but he refuses and toys with her seeing how horny she is. He eventually gives in and they have steamy sex. Unfortunately, Sandra hears them and ruins her mother's afterglow by entering the room and literally pulling Greg's dad from the bed and away from Judy to have sex with him herself, mostly just to spite her mother. Desperate, Judy goes to Sandra's room and sees her having sex with her lover. However, this sight quickly begins to turn Judy on and she starts masturbating. After Greg's dad is done, Judy enters the room and she and Sandra lock eyes, looking at each other with daughterly/motherly love and apparently reinstating their broken bond. However, to everyone's surprise, including Greg's dad, Judy passionately kisses her daughter on the mouth, which Sandra happily reciprocates. Judy then proceeds to have incestuous lesbian sex with her daughter, with Sandra encouraging her not to stop. Judy kisses and massages Sandra's nubile breasts, then proceeds to carefully finger her and finally goes down on her. Sandra moans from pleasure and orgasms. Greg's dad watches this bizarre scene with shock and awe and immediately agrees to join in, but Judy, to his surprise, kicks him out of the bed, to which Sandra gives no objection. Equally amused and confused, he leaves the two now content girls to their own freaky devices. Although also about incest, this scene is tonally completely opposite from the creepy father-daughter scene from before. At this point, Judy stops daydreaming/flashing back and continues to listen to Miss Martin. These two scenes imply that the parents are well aware of their guilt for abusing their children but they are also both disturbed and turned on by it.
The next day, slacker Greg stays after the class and asks Miss Martin if she'd like to have a cup of coffee with him. After a while, he manages to persuade her to agree. The cup of coffee turns into a dinner. Greg manages to seduce Miss Martin that evening and the two go to have sex. Meanwhile, Greg's dad meets his large friend (played by the movie's director) in a bar, denounces Miss Martin in a sexist way and accuses her of being a big city snob who thinks she's better than the people in the town. They agree to proceed with their undisclosed plan and his friend promises he'll try to find a way to get his wife off his back and leave the house that evening. The ominous undisclosed plan turns out to be blackmail, as Greg's dad and his three mustached friends shoot pictures of Miss Martin having sex with Greg. They burst into the room after the two are done and force Miss Martin to immediately leave town or they'll show the pictures to everyone. However, they also force her to service them all at once right there and then first, which she begrudgingly agrees to do, but apparently begins to enjoy it after a while (men forcing themselves on women, who eventually begin to enjoy it seems to intentionally be one of the main themes of the movie). In the morning, Miss Martin packs her things in her car and leaves. The end. The implication is, of course, that this same thing happened to the two other teachers that the principal mentioned at the beginning of the movie. So, in the end, the town's amoral hypocrisy (something that Greg's dad seems to be quite proud of) wins, the abusers' crimes are left unpunished, and Greg's dad's gang will undoubtedly continue to blackmail any future prudish substitute teachers as well.
Although the movie does try to be a little bit tongue-in-cheek in order to make its more objectionable content somewhat lighter and the potentially creepy sex scenes more appealing, this is by no means a comedy, and there is a clear attempt here to make a "real" movie that offers both brutal social commentary and harsh criticism, not unlike that of Peyton Place (1957) and later Twin Peaks (1990-1991) and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992). In fact, the similarity between Polly and Laura (from Twin Peaks) is so uncanny in almost every way (from the way the story is set up to the way the girls look, the fathers act and how everything is shot), that it's actually not that outside of the realm of reason to assume that David Lynch, who created Twin Peaks, actually saw this movie first.
