It’s been two years since the most recent movie in The Conjuring Universe – 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, but that dry streak comes to an end later this year with The Nun 2, a sequel to the spinoff hit from 2018. Despite the poor critical reception, Corin Hardy’s The Nun was a Massive box office hit, scaring up a whopping 365 million in theaters.
In fact, The Nun is actually the highest grossing film in the entire Conjuring Universe to date, and yes that includes the two core The Conjuring movies directed by James Wan!
It was only natural that Valak the demonic nun would return in a sequel, and indeed The Nun 2 is currently slated for theatrical release on September 8, 2023, a full five years after Valak dominated the box office in her first solo movie. This time around, Michael Chaves (Curse of La Llorona,...

“What if Amityville was a zany ’00s sitcom?” seems to be the concept underpinning Emily Hagins’ Shudder-backed latest. A demon-driven comedy of errors that pits a Pazuzu-style haunting against a corny How I Met Your Mother-esque relationship drama, and somehow expects the two to gel together. Naturally, they don’t. But while there is a lot of messy plotting and frustratingly broad humour here, there’s also a quiet charm to just how completely earnest the whole thing is.
Namely cute and cuddly leading man Will (Jon Michael Simpson), your classic sad-sack loser who after getting dumped by his girlfriend of five years, sleepwalks into the middle of a completely ridiculous situation – renting a suspiciously cheap and very obviously haunted house from a skeezy looking married couple. It’s a Homer Simpson move; a decision so glaringly stupid it’s almost enraging to watch, but one that’s made with such dough-eyed naivety,...

Warner Bros. Discovery has been shuffling the release dates of their upcoming films – and even decided to give Evil Dead Rise, which has been planned as an HBO Max release, a theatrical release next April. By giving Evil Dead Rise that April date, they have bumped the Stephen King adaptation Salem’s Lot off their schedule. And while the Salem’s Lot release date is now To Be Determined, another Warner Bros. genre project has just been put on the schedule. The Conjuring Universe entry The Nun 2 is set to reach theatres on September 8, 2023.
Michael Chaves is directing The Nun 2, which is expected to film in France from September through December. Producer James Wan confirmed that Bonnie Aarons will be reprising the role of the demonic nun she played in The Nun and The Conjuring 2. Scripted by Akela Cooper (Malignant), The Nun 2 has the following synopsis:
1956 – France. A priest is murdered.

The next installment of The Conjuring Universe is set to be The Nun 2, with Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) taking over as director. Bonnie Aarons will be back, again playing the demon known as Valak, and tonight Warner Bros. has announced that the sequel will arrive in theaters on September 8, 2023.
Here’s the first The Nun 2 plot synopsis: “1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit The Nun follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force Valak – The Demon Nun.”
The first movie back in 2018 was set in 1952 Romania, so the sequel will be picking up just four years later. Sister Irene is the character played by Taissa Farmiga in The Nun.

Steve Orlando's Martian Manhunter comic gets a thematic preview in DC's Nuclear Winter Special. Here's an exclusive first look...
DC has been having a lot of creative success with their seasonal specials. Usually they’re a way for fun one-off stories or quick-hit introductions for new talent. And periodically they use it as a way to seed ideas and themes for upcoming stories. That’s the case in DC's Nuclear Winter Special, where we get some stuff from relative newcomers like Amancay Nahuelpan or Dave Wielgosz (an editor on the Batman books who’s new to writing credits); unsurprisingly great work from Tom Taylor and Mairghread Scott; an Extremely Mark Russell framing sequence by perennial favorite Mark Russell; and a stealth intro to one of 2019’s most anticipated comics - a holiday get together between Superman One Million and Martian Manhunter from penciller Brad Walker and writer Steve Orlando,...

The band is back together, just without superhero costumes.
Despite the lameness of everyone wearing their normal clothes instead of their vigilante gear, Arrow Season 7 Episode 6 reminded Team Arrow that when they work together, they get results.
Team Arrow really should've learned this lesson already, primarily since the rift that happened in Team Arrow on Arrow Season 6 was the reason Diaz has been able to reak so much havoc.
Superhero squads just don't learn from their mistakes. Instead, they all went their separate ways and thought they could take down Diaz by themselves.
Luckily they finally learned that teamwork makes the dream work, and Felicity's dream has finally come true. Diaz has been caught, and Oliver's coming home!
Except, is he really because that feels way to easy. Oliver does eventually need to get out of Slabside before things start to get stale, but Diaz's takedown doesn't seem finalized just yet.
