This was the last Red Ryder feature film. The series was one of the most popular of the "B" western era. Red Ryder was the famous comic strip creation of Fred Harman and came to the screen in Adventures of Red Ryder (1940), a Republic Pictures serial. Don 'Red' Barry played Red Ryder, and for the rest of his career was billed as Don "Red" Barry. Republic followed that entry with 16 more Red Ryder features but with Bill Elliott in the role. Thereafter, Allan Lane played Red in seven more Republic feature films. After Republic dropped the series, the final four Ryders, produced by Eagle-Lion, had Jim Bannon in the role.
