The Ted and Ralph TV Movie is a prequel to the Ted and Ralph sketches from The Fast Show.
Although the Ted and Ralph TV movie was written by Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson, whom played Ted and Ralph in the TV movie, as well as The Fast Show. The characters were created by Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews.
The first and only time Ted's wife appears and is played by Kathy Burke.
Simon Day's character Cliff Curtis, Ralph's neighbor and antagonist first appeared in a "Ted and Ralph" sketch in Series 2, who abuses Ted when Ted and Cliff go bird shooting.
Paul Whitehouse: decided to give his character Rowley Birkin a connection to the TV movie with "The Fast Show" which the TV movie was a spin-off. In the TV movie, Rowley is Ralph's solicitor. In "The Fast Show", Rowley Bikin is a retired wealthy alcoholic barrister whom tells drunken stories. Obviously, Rowley retired as a solicitor and now resided in his mansion telling drunken stories of his past.
