Godzilla Monster of Monsters is Godzilla's big video game debut on the Original NES. To an average video game player, this game will not be much and to many others it will be a crappy game. To a Godzilla fan, this game is great fun and game play come true. Well here it is, in the year 2XXX Earth receives declaration of war from planet X and will use all the force including the legion of super monsters to conquer us and the universe. Behold Earths defenders Godzilla and Mothra must now do battle against the forces of planet x and there monsters. You play as either Godzilla or Mothra, both sometimes and move your way through most of the planets of the solar system until you reach planet x for the final showdown with King Ghidorah. Each has his or her own ability. Godzilla slower, but much more powerful, punching, kicking, tailing chopping and of course radioactive fire against opponents. Mothra is faster but lacking in strength, use agility and eye beam with poison to defeat her foes. On each planet you will move on hexs representing a stage and then will side scroll fighting and smashing your way through all that oppose you.
On each planet you will face a certain number of monsters, usually increasing every level. Once defeating them you gain energy and power and move on to the next level. Fans of Godzilla and Toho will recognize many of the vehicles that are in each level ranging from Super x from the Godzilla franchise to the flying subs of Atragon. But the real stars are of course the monsters which are also Godzilla or Toho related. Gezora, Mogera, Varan, Hedorah, Baragon, Gigan, MechaGodzilla and King Ghidorah all await you on the battlefields of the solar system each harder as they go. Moving onto a hex that contains a monster you must engage, eventually with one of you prevailing. Game play will probably become to repetitive for the average person, fans wont have much of problem here though. This can be fairly difficult, but mastering it and you will not have to much trouble, except against cheap stuff (Gigans buzz saw, fire craft). And Mothra can defeat all opponents even Ghidorah if you are good, trust me, I am. The graphics are not the best, but every thing is clearly shown. The toons are catchy but nothing to special, with a good ending that is better then some of those on the modern day systems Overall for me 10/10 and great game that wont be soon forgotten. Cant wait to play the modern Godzilla games. Tri star sucks!
