... pursued by his seven future brothers-in-law.
In this fine film, an accidental cranial injury causes the protagonist to lose his memory on the day of his wedding, and wander off into the country while his bride waits at the altar. During his journey he comes across many people, each a caricature of some segment of society. In each scene, we see the hero being himself in every way, despite not knowing who he is.
If you are looking for a film about existentialism, you can watch this movie and probably end up jumping into the nearest lake.
This is one of Vengos' finest efforts, and includes classic scenes that have advanced the art of cinema by leaps and bounds -- e.g., the Vespa scene and the final fiasco where the groom attempts to extinguish the fire he set on a thatched roof using petrol.
DVD fans, rejoice: this is now available. Highly recommended.
