Sylvia's Missing
wes-connors17 December 2010
This presently unavailable film was described in "Motion Picture Magazine" (February 1919) as, "A machine-made picture featuring Barbara Castleton (as Sylvia), who is not even given the advantage of good lighting. A comedy element is contributed by a country family who try to enter smart society. Johnny Hines (as Henry Hicks) does well opposite the star, but Anthony ('Tony') Merlo's conception of the villain (Frank Hayward) stands out as the one piece of unusually distinctive work in the picture." According to reviewer Hazel Simpson Naylor, "Just Sylvia" was, "An example of an ordinary story, indifferently told."
