- The book the Marquis de Sade's "Justine" is recommended to a woman seeking material for her nine-year-old son.
- There are lengthy close-up views of a woman's rear while held prisoner and of a woman's breasts while sunbathing, and glimpses of breasts while bathing. Some men are seen wearing only towels in a washroom.
- There are numerous scenes, some brief and some lengthy, of a male toddler and preteen boy and girl, ranging from toplessness to full rear and frontal views with visible genitals, while bathing or running around playing. In one scene the toddler sits on a helmet and uses it to go to the bathroom.
- The only possibly sexualized nudity is of a woman who is coerced to strip. We see her only briefly, curled up with arms and legs hiding all private parts.
- A woman helps another woman undress to undergarments, caresses the woman's leg, and they kiss. Hands briefly cup clothed breasts.
- We hear a recording of a man and woman beginning to make out. It's not explicit.
- One line of dialog making an inappropriate and incestuous suggestion is obtuse enough that younger viewers, if any, would likely miss it.
- A song repeats the lyric, "How hot was the breast in your hand?"

- A cat is killed in an explosion offscreen.
- Capital punishment is mentioned. We hear a smash-and-grab robbery.
- An underlying theme of terroristic violence runs through the film and is frequently depicted and described. On several occasions, buildings are blown up with homemade bombs; we only see flames and smoke. We see terrorists planting bombs and fabricating firebombs and hear a description of how to make them. Dead and mangled corpses are mentioned by newscasters. Police and student riots, soldiers killed in Vietnam, and racially inspired massacres are mentioned.
- Three people are murdered offscreen, by drowning, gassing, and explosion; we hear descriptions of how the killings were done. The actual acts are not shown; we see one victim but nothing grotesque is shown, another victim is described as swollen and purple. The effects of carbon monoxide poisoning are described in detail. Other murders are suggested.
- A bound and gagged woman is tortured by burning images onto her buttocks. Only the image is shown, no gore or bleeding. Another character is tortured by gas to force her to comply with instructions; we only hear some pleading from her.
Profanity

- Most of the profanity is spoken by three children ages 10, 7 and 3. As English subtitled there are several occurrences of "damn", "ass"/"asshole", "bitch", and a few others such as "shit", "shitter", and "pissing". "Negro" and "African" are used in derogatory ways. And there's some name-calling: "pig", "brat", and "idiot".

- The oldest son drowns the toddler, and kills his sister by gas poisoning. The mother kills the oldest son by exploding a rocket unexpectedly. Only the daughter is shown, having died in her sleep.
