The audience laughed a good deal while this comedy-farce was on the screen. The maniac thinks he's the long-lost father of the society girl. He read an announcement in the paper of the girl's engagement, and this mentioned the fact that the girl's father and mother had been lost years before in a shipwreck. The maniac escapes, appears and claims to be the lady's father, telling her he's just come from the penitentiary. She believes him and there is a painful time for the girl and her fiancé. Mr. Johnson plays the maniac and manages to put fun into a situation that was very hard to keep from being tragic; perhaps that is the very reason why his acting seems so funny. - The Moving Picture World, October 28, 1911
