The Adventurer reminds me a lot of films from my youth like Something Wicked This Way Comes and Young Sherlock Holmes. Family oriented films, but slightly darker. But, perhaps just going by the title I expected a bit more... fun. Here is what the official synopsis has to say:Ancient mysteries. Powerful evil. And a fearless hero's quest through a fantastical realm of steam-powered wonders and sinister magic... In The Adventurer: The Curse Of The Midas Box, seventeen-year-old Mariah Mundi's life is turned upside down when his parents vanish and his younger brother is kidnapped. Following a trail of clues to the darkly majestic Prince Regent Hotel, Mariah discovers a hidden realm of child-stealing monsters, deadly secrets and a long-lost artifact that grants limitless wealth -...

Development as sluggish and unwanted as that of The Lost Symbol fully erased what little interest most of us would hold to begin with, but I’ll be damned if Sony isn’t trying hard to make me care. The first big step in that process would have to be snagging Mark Romanek into the discussion. Now, at the time, I expressed concern and hesitation over a man of his talents be handed material that was most likely beneath him; when you read that he’s expected to take it on, though, it’d be silly for us to ignore the project altogether. With the most important department pegged down — and pegged down rather well, too — they’re eyeing a man to translate Dan Brown‘s book to the big screen.
According to Deadline, that very man may be Danny Strong, writer of HBO’s excellent Recount and their next real-life political drama,...

To Kill A Mockingbird 50th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Robert Mulligan’s film of Harper Lee’s landmark novel pits a liberal-minded lawyer (Gregory Peck) against a small Southern town’s racism when defending a black man (Brock Peters) on trumped-up rape charges. One of the 1960s’ first landmark films, a truly stirring human drama that hits all the right notes and isn’t dated a bit. Robert Duvall makes his screen debut (sans dialogue) as the enigmatic Boo Radley. DVD and Blu-ray double edition. Bonuses: Two feature-length documentaries: Fearful Symmetry and A Conversation with Gregory Peck; Featurettes; Excerpts and film clips from Gregory Peck’s Oscar acceptance speech and AFI Lifetime Achievement Award; Commentary by Mulligan and producer Alan J. Pakula; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 2.0 mono.

Director Ron Howard decoded the first two [1] and now it's Mark Romanek's turn to crack the case [2]. He's reportedly the frontrunner to helm The Lost Symbol, the third installment in Dan Brown's massively successful series of mysteries centered on symbologist Robert Langdon. In the previous two films, The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, Langdon was played by Tom Hanks and while the Oscar-winner has yet to commit to this sequel, he's expected to return. Read more about Romaneck and The Lost Symbol itself after the jump. Deadline [3] broke the news about Romanek, who is an inspired choice after Howard decided to leave the franchise [4]. Besides innumerable music videos, Romanek has only directed two smaller movies (One Hour Photo, Never Let Me Go), but each exhibited great skill with actors, story and pacing. Armed with a few hundred million dollars, there's no telling what he could pull off.

If you're anything like me (and my girlfriend), you love meerkats. In case you don't, let me ask how you can resist the adorable little critters, their huge eyes and their constantly wet nose? No need to answer. If you like meerkats, you're probably already familiar with Meerkat Manor, the long-running documentary / reality narrated by Bill Nighly (or Sean Astin / Stockard Channing if you live in the Us). The shows' stars like Flower, Mozart or Zaphod are so "famous" that they have their own imdb pages with enraged fans posting on Flower's message board about the need for a more detailed biography or at least putting in Flower's date of death on her resumé. Today you can read an interview with Brollyman, who gives his first interview here about doing Meerkat Manor in addition to some other animal reality programs such as Lemur Island and Lemur Street.
