Ghost hunters will find more than they bargained for on Halloween in upcoming genre-bender The Unearthly. Per Deadline, the indie sci-fi horror comedy has found its lead in star and producer Patrick Warburton.
Josh Sternfeld (Fortress: Sniper’s Eye) is set to direct The Unearthly for Centerboro Productions, with production scheduled to begin early this year in Connecticut.
In The Unearthly, “a team of paranormal investigators live-stream a ‘Halloween Special’ ghost hunt of a notorious haunted mansion, finding the source of the evil at hand to be far more deadly than they ever could have imagined. Warburton plays Tank McCrary, an old school paranormal investigator in the style of Ed Warren and Peter James, who hosted over 20 live television specials in the ’90s before an incident ruined his career. Stubborn and egotistical, he likes to do things his way. He doesn’t trust technology, relying on his analog tape recorder,...

Sonic Youth have announced the official reissue of their lost bootleg, Walls Have Ears, set for release on February 9th, 2024. In honor of the announcement, the band has shared what is believed to be the first official recording of their fan favorite song “Expressway to Yr Skull.”
Previously released in 1986 as a 2xLP set that quickly went out of print, Walls Have Ears features recordings of three seminal Sonic Youth performances during the band’s second visit to the UK. A press release describes the bootleg as “not just a live album but an artful tapestry full of live experimentation with songs, between-song tape segues, darkness, humor and audio verité.”
The album is available for pre-order now, and will be sold digitally as well as on vinyl, CD, and cassette. A deluxe vinyl edition is available to pre-order, featuring exclusive materials including a previously-unreleased performance of “(She’s In a) Bad Mood.

The trailer for The Garfield Movie has now made its online debut. Sony Pictures Animation is bringing to life one of the most famous lazy felines in the world. The last time Garfield had graced the silver screen was in 2006’s Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, the sequel to 2004’s Garfield, which featured Bill Murray as the titular voice that originated with Lorenzo Music, who poetically also voiced the Bill Murray role in The Real Ghostbusters. Famously, Murray had admitted to taking the role under the mistaken assumption that he was working with one of the Coen brothers (the movie was written by Joel Cohen – unrelated to the beloved duo).
This new incarnation brings us an origin story of sorts courtesy of the new trailer. We get a look at how Garfield had ended up with his owner, Jon Arbuckle. In the intro to the trailer, kitten Garfield works...

Night of the Hunted, the latest film from Franck Khalfoun is a remake, but not of Jean Rollin’s 1980 paranoid thriller of the same name, though that would be a logical choice for rebooting in these conspiracy-riddled times. Instead, he and co-writer Glen Freyer have reworked and updated Rubén Ávila Calvo and David R.L.’s 2015 Spanish thriller Night of the Rat.
This film begins in a hotel room where Alice is talking to her husband on the phone, we hear something about an appointment with a fertility specialist before she hurriedly hangs up as John enters the room. Driving back to town in the pre-dawn darkness they make a stop for gas despite Jiohn’s insistence that he filled the tank the day before. Alice goes in to grab some snacks, and as...

Chromeo are back: The electro-funk duo of David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel have released a catchy new track called “Words with You.” The group are billing it as their first official single since their last studio album, 2018’s Head Over Heels.
Featuring Chromeo’s signature combination of disco and funk, “Words with You” is just as smooth as it is catchy thanks to a grooving bassline and irresistible synths. However, the lyrics are actually about a breakdown in communication within a relationship. “A simple word called trust,” Dave 1 sings. “That’s between the two of us/ I wouldn’t want to play with that.” Stream the track below.
In a statement, Dave 1 described “Words with You” as “a mix of new and familiar.” He named the horn section and live instrumentation of drums, bass, and synths as new, with “the groove and the tone, two signature things...

After more than 15 years, America’s most iconic cat is finally returning to the big screen.
In 2024, we’re looking forward to the release of “Garfield,” the long-awaited film starring Jim Davis’ iconic comic strip character. The movie will, incredibly, be the first fully-animated theatrical project starring the lasagna-eating grouch, who first appeared in newspaper comic sections in 1978. Although the franchise has remained enormously popular in the decades since its launch, Garfield’s only theatrical films were two live action/CGI projects starring Bill Murray as the character. After the second film, “A Tale of Two Kitties,” bowed in 2006, the franchise remained off the bigscreen for years, in favor of direct-to-dvd films and television shows.
News of Garfield’s animated return first broke in 2016, when Alcon Entertainment secured the exclusive rights to developing animated features based on the character. Although the project remained dormant for several years, 2021 saw an uptick in news about the film,...

Exclusive: Disney’s flagship streaming service, Disney+, and its established sibling Hulu lead the list of streamers in total TV advertising impressions in 2020, according to ad tracking firm iSpot.
The rankings (see them in full below) define an impression as a verified playing of an ad on a TV screen for at least three seconds. While it isn’t the most complete gauge of the marketing efforts behind all services, given the array of digital means of acquiring customers and viewers, TV remains the most important reach vehicle in the ad game.
Disney+ racked up 18.3 billion impressions through December 20, a 425% increase over 2019 (a boost that isn’t totally surprising given how late its November 12 launch came in 2019). Hulu, which Disney took full control of in 2019, was a close second, with just shy of 15 billion impressions, up 144% from 2019.
Peacock and HBO Max, which launched in the spring of 2020, mustered 6.7 billion and 5.1 billion impressions,...

New Delhi, Oct 8 (Ians) British Indian singer Avina Shah has collaborated with Chris Gayle for a new dance track, but originally the West Indies cricket superstar wanted to do a remix of her 2018 track, Playboy.
"A mutual friend thought it would be a great idea for us to do a song together. I was introduced to Chris over a phone call while I was in Greece recently. Our friend had shown him some of my previous songs and Chris liked the East-West sound in my music and originally wanted to do a remix of my track 'Playboy'," Avina told Ians.
"We got talking about doing a song together and creating something different by adding the Caribbean flavour to my sound, by mixing India, the UK and Jamaica to create something unique. I don't think this has been done before in anything I've heard, so I was really excited about the project,...

“The Simpsons” added to their long-standing record for most wins in the Best Animated Program category when they picked up their 11th trophy at Saturday night’s Creative Arts ceremony for the episode “Mad About the Toy.” The victory was a shocker since the show was ranked last in our predictions center with 9/2 odds of winning.
In the episode, Grandpa is babysitting the kids when he gets freaked out by the sight of some plastic green Army men. This leads to the family finding out that he had modeled for the infamous toy and also got the photographer, who was gay, fired from the shoot. Grandpa then seeks to find the man and make things right.

It’s a film starring Sundance Film Fest creator Robert Redford and another film starring Sundance mainstay James Franco that are the latest and last items to officially pad the 2015 edition. Ken Kwapis’ A Walk in the Woods (surely to be discussed as a companion piece to Gus Van Sant’s heavy Cannes contender The Sea of Trees) and Rupert Goold’s directorial debut, True Story – a story that is stranger than fiction close out the Premieres selections. Also announced we find items for New Frontier, Sundance Kids and the From the Collection items. And while the line-up is complete, the actual final piece to the puzzle might actually be a secret screening or two. This year I wager on Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups playing as a non official showing. Here’s the press release.

In these interviews Jennifer and Danielle discuss their characters and the hardest parts of the filming process while Michael talk about his inspiration for the film.
The Victim stars Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Grindhouse), Ryan Honey ("ER," Hallowed Ground), Jennifer Blanc ("Dark Angel," "Party of Five"), Denny Kirkwood (Never Been Kissed, Groove), and genre favorite Danielle Harris (Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Hatchet II).
Synopsis:
Good time girls Annie (Blanc) and Mary (Harris) find themselves in a life and death situation. Annie’s life is put in jeopardy when she is witness to a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies.

Continuing my "Road to The Victim", this time around I take on actor Denny Kirkwood who plays Cooger in the upcoming grindhouse flick helmed by Michael Biehn. Kirkwood also has a few more projects coming our way including a guest spot on ABC's Cougartown and developing his own script based on a true story. Check out my latest "Versus" with Denny Kirkwood.
Brian S- First off how did you get involved with The Victim?
Denny Kirkwood- Lorna Paul pitched me for the role to Jen. They produced it together and set up a meeting with Michael who wanted to make sure I had the right intensity to play opposite of him. Trust me, I'm intense. Michael saw that, believed in me, and I got the role.
Brian S- Tell me a little about your character.
Denny Kirkwood- He's an undercover narcotics cop but he's really a good guy...

Sit down, boys and girls. It’s time for a lesson from a cappella legend Jerry Lawson, who offered up the wisest words on last night’s episode of The Sing-Off: “We had fun, and that’s what it’s about. We’re supposed to have fun.” Thank You, Jerry! There were times during last night’s episode when I wondered whether the contestants had all forgotten that They Sing A Cappella, the most inherently cheesy form of music known to mankind. Sure, it can be a powerful format, but I can’t really get behind Ben Folds’ request...

“If you want drugs, violence, suspense and lots of sexy people, this movie is for you,” says actress/producer Jennifer Blanc with a smile as she greets me on the set of The Victim – a new backwoods indie thriller that sports some heavy-duty subject matter and one helluva cast. Directed by Brock Morse, written by and starring genre icon Michael Biehn, the film boasts a gritty multi-character driven story of corrupt cops, strippers and backwoods folk – the kind where no one is innocent and nothing is black-and-white.
“This is Michael's, Brock's and my baby,” says Blanc, “I usually play lunatics and sidekicks, and now I actually get to be the heroine of the story. Danielle Harris and I play two best friends who are strippers in a bar who get into a really bad situation with a client and basically end up fighting for our lives.”

Starring Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Grindhouse), Ryan Honey ("ER," Hallowed Ground), Jennifer Blanc ("Dark Angel," "Party of Five"), Denny Kirkwood (Never Been Kissed, Groove), and Danielle Harris (The Last Boy Scout, Rob Zombies Halloween, Stake Land) is Brock Morse's The Victim, which follows a man who lives alone in a remote cabin and is surprised by his visitors. Recently filming in Los Angeles, Bloody Disgusting's Chris Eggertsen took a trip down to the set and witnessed a whole lotta screamin' Biehn! Aliens is one of my favorite films of all time, so needless to say I was pretty excited to meet Michael Biehn (aka Corporal Hicks) on the set of The Victim, his latest film co-starring real-life spouse Jennifer Blanc ("Kendra" on the short-lived Fox series Dark Angel), scream queen Danielle Harris.... Sometimes acting can get a bit out of hand, especially method acting, as you're about to see.
During a scene in which star Michael Biehn was set to struggle with a crooked cop, played by Ryan Honey, things went shall we say ... not as planned? According to Bloody Disgusting here's how it went down:
"According to Biehn, he insisted - against stunt coordinator Tony Snegoff's advice - that Honey not only use a genuine Lapd chokehold, but that he actually cut off his air supply in order to heighten the realism of the scene. Unfortunately, the actor didn't "tap out" soon enough - as you can see, confused cast and crew members wait several seconds before realizing he's actually blacked out from the pressure (note his twitching hands). Luckily, Biehn came out of the experience unscathed...though needless to say, they went with a different hold when doing re-takes.

New York -- Tribeca Film Institute is giving the daughter of Sundance Institute founder Robert Redford and others a handout, all in the name of science.
Amy Redford's Hedy Lamarr biopic, "Face Value," and the homemade-nuke tale "The Radioactive Boy Scout" from director Greg Harrison ("Groove") and producer William Horberg took home $40,000 each toward their development from the inaugural Tfi Sloan Filmmaker Fund.
Three biopics also received $10,000 awards supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for work that projects science into cinema. Profiles of Thomas Edison ("Alva" from screenwriters Alex Lyras and Michael Dorian), Marie Curie ("A Noble Affair," from producer Anil Baral and screenwriter Kathryn Maughan) and the Wright Bros. (Tim Kirkman's "Kitty Hawk," with producers including Gill Holland) will each be supported.
Selection committee members included Darren Aronofsky, Steven Shainberg, Caroline Baron, Ann Druyan ("Contact"), Columbia University's Darcy B. Kelley and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center CEO Harold Varmus.
