Very good Family Entertainment

Good clean fun for the whole family! I found this on Amz looking for something more wholesome than most of the new releases. Most of the acting is pretty good with one or 2 exceptions. The Dog , store keeper, and saloon/Opera House lady are the best. , except the lady Doctor, sorry Doc. Thankfully its not super gory like most shows today. There are some shootouts and fist fights like you would expect with a Yukon story. Kudos to the "Buck's" trainer and Buck, the dog is great.

Great outdoors and dogs.
IndustriousAngel2 February 2013
The outdoor scenes and the dogs are really great in this short literary adaption.

The actors, on the other hand, are just reading their scripts it seems. There is very little life to the characters, and if it weren't for the dogs, this film would be really unwatchable. I have to admit it's been a long time since I read the book but while I think Buck is the real hero even in the book, I hope the humans there are more than just cardboard characters to fill up the screen.

Apart from the actors, the production values are OK. I liked the sets and scenery and the music did its job.

An enjoyable adventure series for all!
Figaro-812 August 2000
If you want a great adventure series for the whole family that is not a cartoon, look no further than Animal Planet's excellent series "Call of the Wild." Buck, the canine hero of the Jack London novel, faces adventures in the town and surrounding area of Forty-Mile with his human friend Miles as well as John and Adoley Thornton. There is something for every taste here: action/adventure, drama, and a little humor and romance. Nick Mancuso (John) and Shane Meier (Miles) work well together, but the real chemistry is between Meier and Buck. Buck is fantastic! This series has everything going for it: well-written scripts, a nice cast, a nice music score, and GORGEOUS on-location photography that is nicely presented in a "matted" letterbox format. It is truly a breath of fresh air. Here's hoping many people will hear the call for a long time.

Extremely disappointing
WildBullWriter9 July 2022
This poorly written and terribly acted TV series has almost nothing to do with the actual "Call of the Wild" story. If you want a good version of the story, I suggest the 2020 movie "Call of the Wild" starring Harrison Ford. This TV series is an embarrassment. I know it's geared toward young people, but that doesn't mean it has to be overly juvenile and insulting to even a child's intelligence. I'm really quite aggravated that the makers of the series blew such a great opportunity to make a great TV show.

Trash

Garbage. Terrible acting, absurd plots. Has little if anything to do with the book, but can't even stand alone on its own as decent storytelling.
