Aside from its portrait of the profession of Social Work at the mid-point of the last century, this little documentary presents a number of mostly rural and small town vignettes on what life was like just after the war. There is a sense that any little personal problem that might come one's way could be remedied with just a small potion of magic from the friendly, neighborhood Social Worker. What a sublime notion! All in all, a pleasant little trifle, most likely appealing to older, nostalgia-ridden helpers.
