Oh, hi Cinemaholics listeners. It’s time to review The Disaster Artist, directed by and starring James Franco as Tommy Wiseau. Based on the book of the same name by Greg Sestero, this new movie is a dramatic comedy about the making of The Room, considered by many to be the “best worst” film ever made.
As always, the Cinemaholics also cover a host of Mini Reviews, starting with My Friend Dahmer, based on the graphic novel of the same name about notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer from the perspective of someone who knew him in high school. Elsewhere, Jon talks about the first two episodes of Runaways, a new Marvel original show on Hulu which definitely has some potential, as it centers around a group of high schoolers who find out their parents are super villains and inherit their powers.

Halloween is a time when regular folk allow themselves to see the world as us horror lovers do – weird and wonderful, sinister mischief with tongue in cheek under (and over) tones. They watch that scary movie they’ve been meaning to get to for the past year, string up skeletons, and parade around at office parties in the latest ironic costumes (expect tons of Trumps and Weiners this year). But for the fearful faithful, this is our workaday; we watch the films daily, display our rooms with terror trinkets, and dress up as our favourite icons at constant conventions around the globe. So what separates the actual day of Halloween from our normal routine? TV viewing, of course.

The way film composer and former Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman tells it, his whole career boils down to two words: "Fuck it." He muttered that philosophical phrase when he offered an opportunity to write his first movie score – for director Tim Burton's feature debut, Pee-wee's Big Adventure – and the musician said it again when given the chance to perform his now-impressive catalog of symphonic cinematic creations in his "Music From the Films of Tim Burton" concert series.

The cast of Pawn is coming along real nicely. The movie already has The Shield alumni Michael Chiklis and Forrest Whitaker signed on, and they will be joined by Ray Liotta and Common. Now the movie has added some extra names. Jonathan Bennett, Marton Csokas, Sean Faris, Stephen Lang, Nikki Reed and Jessica Szohr are the latest names to join the cast of Pawn from Extravaganza Films, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. The movie has involves an ex-con who is trapped in a situation involving hostages, the police, the FBI and the mob.
If there is anything Chiklis, Whitaker, and Liotta are familiar with, its their crime dramas, and I am sure Lang can deliver a commanding performance in Pawn. Reed can be seen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, Csokas played Celeborn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Bennett, meanwhile, had a supporting role...

A Christmas Carol in repertory with The Christmas Carol Conspiracy, Scrooge's Revenge
Dec. 4-20, 2009
On alternating nights, we present two shows: First, a faithful rendition of Charles Dickens' immortal heart-touching tale of Scrooge, adapted by Joe and Cheryl Doyle. No gaudy special effects; the magic is in the script. Second, Joe Doyle's silly 1996 send-up of the original - lampooning that it was all a trick in the first place. Scrooge learns he'd been duped and plots revenge! Sparks fly, laughs abound! Season ticket holders see both shows for the price of one!
Starring James Banar as Scrooge, Ken Ammerman as Bob Cratchit, Kelly Allen as Mrs. Cratchit and Ed Patton as Marley.
Co-Starring John Bergeron, Tess Ammerman, Adam Juraga and many more.
Narrated by John Pinto
Directed by Joe Doyle

I sit in my seat and look about to see my surroundings; I start to hear clicking sounds getting louder and louder. I start to fly around the city of London, looking around I see people having snowball fights with each other, singing Christmas songs. This might sound like the Star Tours “The Christmas Carol Edition” that would be at Disneyland. You might think wow that sounds kind of cool, well in this film it played out to be too much of something can be a bad thing. It sounds strange that Zemeckis could not pull off a simple adaptation. The last animated film we saw from Zemeckis was “Beowulf” which I found to be an excellent adaptation; it carried strong writing as well as excellent use of 3D effects.
